I wish I had Letterboxd back when I was in film school 2013-2017. I have seen some whack shit that I can't remember the names of that I'd love to keep track of

Battle for Skyark for me. Deservedly so. Probably the only movie I truly hated watching.

Has this world stopped asking what it's thinking?

I cherish badly made movie posters. This thread always delivers.

One time the director of that did a pitch at my university and showed some footage and that's how I got into David Bazan

On my way to better things Moderator

When I was in college (2007-2011) I watched so many independent films and I thought each one was going to rule and 99% of them are completely forgettable

I watched way too many movies in college. In 2009 I saw 150 movies that came out that year. Way too much generic stuff from Sundance or Toronto.

Several years ago I did the 365 movie challenge (as in watching that many movies for the first time that I never saw before in a calendar year) and I tracked my progress starting on January 1st… I saw plenty of good films but at least 70% were independent/low budget movies available to stream on Netflix and they were dull as hell, including ones featuring actors I love. And yes, I did manage to see my 365th movie in the last week of the year.

So I wasn't sure where else to put this and I'm not sure if this suits the purpose of this thread, but:

A Christmas Story Getting Official Sequel With Original Star Returning

There have been three separate attempts to make a sequel to this movie, all of which choose to ignore the previous ones, Halloween sequel style. The last one was even called A Christmas Story 2, and yet this movie is going to ignore that one as well.

But here's the crazy part: Why is anyone so eager to make a sequel to this movie? Listen, I actually loved this movie growing up and I still think it has its memorable moments, but I also don't think it's a movie that needs a sequel this badly that filmmakers need to keep trying once every decade to get it right.

At least this one is bringing back the original Ralphie actor. That's interesting, I guess.

I guess this is a cross between movies that shouldn't have happened and movies I can't believe are actually happening.

That is gonna be like the new home alone movie in that I will never know a single person who has watched it and I will have to convince myself that I'm not crazy and that they actually made it.

One of those is an Oscar nominee. The technical awards really bestow that term on some odd stuff.
