Looking up highest grossing films in any given year is a good way to find these. I have the vaguest memory of there being a Rampage movie in 2018 yet apparently it made over $400mil lol
This is probably much more of a cult choice, but has anyone ever seen or heard of Big Man on Campus? It was always one of my dad’s favorites and my family has owned multiple terrible copies over the years, but I’ve never seen it mentioned anywhere by anyone outside of us. Has Tom Skerritt, Jessica Harper, and a very young Melora Hardin.
John Carter is wild. In development hell for decades, and when they finally make it it becomes one of the most expensive films ever and they don’t even bother having the lead being some huge star, let alone the rest of the cast. It’s like they wanted it to flop
I loved The Perfect Score so much when I was in high school. Also didn't know the story behind Kangaroo Jack but I liked that movie alot at one point in time too
I remember seeing some fantasy movie in middle school that was specifically about dragons or something like that. Can't think of the title or anything else about it outside of it being really bad and ending on an obvious, "you'll have to tune in for the sequel!" ploy at the end (which never came).
Evolution might be my most nostalgic film that I’ve never actually watched. I spend most of my time not remembering that it existed, but any time I’m reminded of it, I immediately can picture that logo, & immediately I’m transported back to my youth, lol.
I hate that there's a few movies in here that I actually really like haha. also a lot come to mind that I saw on a whim in theaters but the first that jumps out is Blood & Chocolate a really weird werewolf movie.
What are movies that *should* fall under here but for some inexplicable reason became hits? Looking back, movies like Taken or The Hangover have no right being as successful as they were. I’ve never seen My Big Fat Greek Wedding but why did it become such a big thing?
The Fast and the Furious movies. They lost Vin Diesel and then Paul Walker. It seemed like it would become a direct-to-video series that would fade out. Now it is one of the biggest franchises in the world.
