My friend and I used to watch new Kevin Smith movies ironically because they were so bad. Since his last one was good and he hasn’t made anything else, this slots in nicely.

In the old days a comedian would get a sitcom where the character had the same first name as them so the comedian would know they are talking to them.

The 80s/90s were flooded with sitcoms tailored around stand-ups from the Comedy Boom. I think Ray Romano and Kevin James were the last to get sitcoms from that traditional route before the internet got big.
I just watched the trailer for his movie and they literally do a joke about dads not knowing how to do laundry in 2026.
It's essentially a Mr Mom remake, right? That concept was dated when Mr Mom came out. It's like "wouldn't it be hilarious if a man had to wash a dish?"
It's actually half of the jokes on Everybody Loves Raymond, with the other half being how much they hate their parents.
Uncle Buck is probably the best of the "manchild is forced to look after kids and they teach each other about life" subgenre.
... Jupiter Ascending isn't a good movie, but I think many elements of it are really, really good. It doesn't work as a movie at all, but I see where it's coming from. And I really love the ambition and the willingness to be weird.
