Yeah, basically the villain is Destro for almost the whole film but then the doctor character played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt betrays him and reveals himself as Cobra Commander. Then the Joes capture him but then you see Zartan impersonating the president on his orders, and that's where the first film ends and Retaliation picks up.
Just read the first post in this thread to get what it means. It does not mean “complete flop.” I literally included the GI Joe movies as an example. And then on the first page people were posting things like the holiday-themed movies with giant ensemble casts that were huge financial successes but are now gone from public consciousness. Also this “it was never really supposed to Happen” is not part of the criteria. Most of the movies we talk about were never going to have a chance at commercial or critical success. That doesn’t exclude them from Never Happening.
Really a big marker of a movie never happening or not is that it's not a so-bad-it's-good level of mediocre. That's part of what makes it so unmemorable in general
"Movies that didn't actually happen" can mean whatever I want it to mean. I don't gotta obey your parameters. Don't box in my posting imagination man.
I disagree with most of what gets posted on this site, but I'm not about to get pedantic about the meaning of the thread
Absolutely. This is way more fitting. A solo spin-off movie of a character no one cares about or asks for that no one watches. It’s like how people remember the “Street Fighter” movie and not the Chun-Li solo movie.
Debating whether something “happened” or not is like half the discussion that happens in this thread. With that inherently comes the question of how to define what it means
I watched snake eyes in theaters. Henry Golding was decent and if I remember, the action was entertaining but yea, no real superstars in it and most people would be like 'what movie?' But I do remember that i liked it.
For a second there I was shocked so many were talking like the role that brought Nicholas Cage his Favorite Actor Award from the Blockbuster Entertainment Awards was from a movie that didn't exist.
