I was just Quoting this at work the other day with my best friend “who the fuck is jack nochillson?!”
Ever since Best Buy announced they’re no longer carrying DVDs, I realized if I want to see a movie without relying on streaming, I gotta get a copy. So I’ve bought up a few favorites but finally got my white whale… a mediocre crime noir from the mid 90s starring Nick Cage, Sam Jackson, and David Caruso who quit his lucrative TV show gig for a career in movies. I hadn’t seen this in at least 15 years. I’ve loved this movie as a kid, has a ton of great acting talent, and is just as mediocre as I remember it. Totally worth the $16
I’ve never seen the movie but will always associate it with Dustin Hoffman’s appearance on Talk Soup after John Henson trashed the movie
I watched it many times as a kid and did not fully understand the hate but I watched some clips tonight and it is pretty rough.
I think about it more than any other movie that came out that year. The main character is 35 so I am older than him now but was only 22 when it came out and it feels much different; it goes from being funny and slightly cautious to a horror movie.
I don't know if this qualifies for a movie that "didn't happen", but it's easily the most forgotten Danny Boyle film
