None of this recent crop has been able to touch The Social Network, but Blackberry felt unique in that it served as both a product rise and fall origin story while also feeling like a satire of the genre. It was good.
Even Barbie, as good as most of it was, stops to have that scene near the end where the founder tells everyone how important their product is.
Satire feels like a bit of a stretch to me, but I did think it was good. Maybe I'm jaded because Johnson went after Evil Dead Rise for being a franchise film while simultaneously jumping on one of these "how it was made" films.
I dunno about gross, but it definitely sounds dumb. Do adults really say that when not speaking to children?
The performances all felt a little heightened like they would in a satire. Howerton's is the obvious one, but I think Elwes's and Johnson also seemed to be hamming it up a bit. Plus the wigs and makeup looked intentionally cheap.
I agree on Johnson and the wigs, I'm just not convinced it was intentional lol. Splitting hairs (no pun intended) though because I did enjoy the movie
People just like to parrot things they see on the internet don't make me post about boneless wings again
I do think the product origin movies are getting oversaturated. I also think Air was a blast. Do I contradict myself? Very well then, I contradict myself.
