just watched all of Echo. It was pretty cool. A little biased here, being Indigenous (Diné, specifically) - I loved seeing the care that went into Choctaw representation on screen.

more than anything, it's so cool to see Sydney Freeland's involvement with this project as a director and EP. she was a filmmaking mentor for me back in 2009 when I was dabbling with the idea of getting into film. been following her career since and it's been great to see her attached to things like Reservation Dogs and Echo, among others.

Feel like it's too early to say this didn't actually happen.

I do like the idea of the origin of Tetris as a tense political thriller. Don't know how it turned out though.

  18. As a Matt Johnson fan, I watched BlackBerry recently and it was fun enough but I also failed to see what made it that much better than any other product origin story we got in the past year

  20. I mean, yeah, the cast is there, but more so I mean it felt like anyone could have directed and acted in that film lol. It was a good period piece origin story that just so happened to have a really solid cast and score

Blackberry ruled. Let’s show Aaron the origins of being stuffed in a locker.

  22. I like the part where the nerdy guy solves a supposedly unsolvable tech problem in front of a room of suits that feels like it's been pulled from every likeminded movie ever

a Pop-Tart movie sounds like a good idea of a parody of all these product placement movies

The product movies remind me of when that Iranian cleric said that Iran couldn't strike back after the Soleimani killing because the only heroes America has are Spongebob and Spider-Man. Like Hollywood can't even make bland biopics about historical figures that were actually interesting or important, they just try to make some schlock about some dull businessmen who maybe have 1-2 actually interesting anecdotes, but whose whole life story is really just a matter of the wheels of capitalism grinding ever onward

The Founder is an actually good movie, but that's because it's extremely aware that Ray Kroc was a horrible person who screwed the "little guy." What's interesting about the movie isn't simply "Hey this is how McDonalds came to be, isnt' that neat!" Yet that seems to have been the takeaway from whoever keeps making all these movies
