“The Kitchen” is such a massive fumble, considering the talent involved. One of the worst movies of that year.
As time goes on, I think there’s gonna be expanding memory hole for good movies with great casts released on streaming playforms that are completely forgotten because either never got promoted or didn’t get almost any play in theaters. This is a big one that comes to mind.
You could tell me that Netflix released a $200m film starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Diane Keaton last week and I’d believe you.
This isn’t a shot at her, but I feel like Kristen Stewart has been in 90% of the films that are in this thread that have been made in the last 5-7 years. Maybe she really likes the roles she picks and power to her for that but man, there are some serious clunkers / “wtf is that real?” items in her career that mirror late career shit of John Travolta or something. Very bizarre.
i would’ve seen a screening of the kitchen if heat wasn’t playing at a different theater that same night. guess you could say i COULD handle the heat and still stayed out of the kitchen
I think she realizes if she can occasionally make Underwater or Charlie's Angels she can buy a house and do whatever weird indie films she wants which I can respect
Yeah, I think she can live off of those Twilight residuals for the rest of her life. I think she mainly takes roles that challenge her, whether or not or it will be a success is secondary.
Kristen Stewart is doing a lot better work than most actors right now. She doesn't necessarily do the big showy awards films but she is in a lot of arthouse work.
Adventureland rules. And it has a fantastic performance from Ryan Reynolds playing an awful character without mugging it up.
Oh yeah true I did enjoy that one too. But I didn't see it when it was released which I think hurt it in my eyes. Feels like the type of movie I would have thought more highly of if I saw it when i was 21 instead of 30whatever hah
Love Adventureland. Some really great performances by some actors whose careers have rocketed since then
I’m all for her choosing roles she likes vs choosing things she feels like she has to do get bills paid. I feel like I remember reading about her being really unhappy with how obsessive fans of things can get like Twilight and that she tries to avoid those types of things going forward. Definitely can’t see her being suddenly in the Marvel universe (maybe she already is idk lol) but if one day she wants to be, more power to her. Side tangent/curiosity kind of along those same lines that has been talked about in other threads, it’s weird how big of a name George Clooney is but how he’s not in huge blockbusters. Think his biggest films money-making wise are the Ocean films and Gravity but like, everyone loves him and knows him but he’s just not in major blockbusters. A lot of my favorite films star Clooney but they didn’t make a lot of money (The American, Michael Clayton, Up in the Air, Out of Sight, etc.)
Michael Clayton almost made $100 million and Up In The Air made $166 million, which is pretty amazing for a mid-budget drama. He does have an wild career trajectory of making kind of lame blockbusters (“Tomorrowland”) with solid, mid-budget dramas and Coen Brothers movies. As a director, he kind of peaked with “Good Night and Good Luck” because his other three are not good. I guess he really doesn’t have much to worry about because he’s got that Casamigos money.
