I love going to the movies, my last job I was able to go at least once a week. Now I try and go at least twice a month.
Even seeing bad movies in theaters elevates them a smidge. I'll never forget seeing Movie 43 in theaters in high school lol. My first kiss with my fiancee happened after taking her to dinner and Dark Shadows, continuing the theme of Movies That Don't Exist pre-dating Relationships That Do Exist.
My last movie in the theater before covid hit was Sonic with my son. And my first experience back was A Quiet Place pt. 2
Last movie: The Invisible Man (March 7th) Return: Minari (March 20th, 2021, prevax but double-masked and only like....8 other people in the theater)
Last movie was Extra-Ordinary, first one back was a private rental my buddy did so we could watch Godzilla Vs. Kong
Last movie in theater pre-COVID was Star Wars 9... First one back was Dune, I think? edit: Kaamelott came out a little bit earlier than Dune so it must have been that one
I saw Top Gun 2 a month ago with my father in law Nearly two years and I had managed to avoid hanging out with him one on one until then. Thankfully you don't really talk during a movie so it wasn't a bad time and the movie was actually awesome
Last was Sonic. First was a showing of Scream at my local movie tavern. Since then I've seen Batman in theaters and that's it. I'm not opposed to going...but with kids and all it's just more convenient to stay home and not purchase a $25 popcorn and pop.
Last before the pandemic was The Maltese Falcon at my local indie. First one back was Monster Hunter, I think. I go to the movies two or three times a month with my wife, and I try to go once a week solo. I don't force it if there's nothing good, but frankly, an afternoon alone in a theater with a bad movie is better than most other things I'd be doing. I also have broad tastes, don't mind mediocre movies, and don't mind rewatches.
I go all the time. The AMC subscription is a beautiful thing. As long as I see two movies a month it pays for itself
I was an A-List member for about four years living on the east coast. It's so great. During that time, before I had kids and with pretty flexible work hours, I was seeing two or three movies a week pretty consistently in theaters. I moved out west about a year ago, and the AMC here isn't nearly as robust or convenient in their showtimes, so I ended up dropping it and switching to a Cinemark/Regal hybrid approach that saves some pretty good money, but I really miss the AMC haha.
Honestly zero complaints. The app makes it super easy to grab a seat and super easy to cancel if you have to. Legitimate value for what you pay
I don’t remember what our last before the pandemic was. It was almost definitely Rise of Skywalker as we don’t frequent movie theaters much, maybe 2-4 a year. We have not gone back since the pandemic began. In hindsight, we probably shoulda tried to catch one in May/June of 2021 when the virus was looking beat
My first kiss did not happen at a movie but rather in the abandoned stairwell of a farmers market lol. She was from PA and we met via a mutual friend on AIM, so after months of talking I had my mom drop me off at the farmers market on a Friday night to “meet a friend” and she went there with her mom and went to “walk around”. Stealth! When me and my wife started dating I don’t think we went to see a movie earlier on in the relationship. First one I remember seeing with her was Scream 4, which came out a full 2 years after we met
