Regal is the only theater by me so I’d love a program with them. I’ll miss The Alamo Drafthouse but I don’t have time most weekends to drive that far.
So I cancelled my MoviePass sub and it says "you can't sign up for another subscription for nine months after cancelling" and I was like "I'm surprised you guys think you'll be around that long."
I wish Cinemarks deal was better. Theres two AMCs by me but they never get any smaller name movies. Theres only theater around me that gets those and its Cinemark since it has like 20-something auditoriums and their XD is the only higher quality format thats around too. No Imax by me and I hate 3d. Im hoping by the time my subscription to Moviepass is gone in December (if they make it that long) Cinemark puts out a new package similar to AMC.
Not that worried about peak pricing considering I just got a 6:30 showing of Ant Man opening weekend at a flagship regal location without getting hit with it
Not really. It depends on what you're looking for and where you live. I live right next to a decent AMC and a lol of other good ones in the area. I like being able to see three movies a week, IMAX, 3D or whatever and not have to worry about the price. I also get to cut ahead of everyone else in concessions because I have my own line, I get cheaper food and stuff and gather points for money spent that can be used on rewards. For me it's easily AMC over MoviePass. It just has more benefits even if the price is a little more.
Isn’t the price double? I’m not a fan of 3D, so that’s just not a perk for me. And MoviePass works at most AMC theaters. I do like the competition, and it appears that MoviePass will probably die in the coming months. But I feel like people are jumping off the MP train before it’s necessary.
soooo.... what are the benefits if you don't get concessions and realize 3D is an inferior way to see movies?
being able to do eticketing and order in advance is a biggie, it's not quite worth it for me yet but that's definitely a draw/pain with Moviepass
IMAX is a free upgrade, three movies a week and you can see any movie more than once, the phone app also doesn't suck like MP and you even get rewards points for your monthly subscription. Also the business isn't on the brink of going out of business. I'd much prefer a Regal program over both, but I'll take what I can get.
My number one reason for sticking with MP until the end is the ability to go to ANY theater. I'm not limited to AMC, or Cinemark or whatever. I can go to the small indie theaters and see art-house flicks, I can go to the huge megaplex and see blockbusters, I can go see a movie at some random theater when I'm away from home on vacation... The AMC package is easily second best, but until MP folds or adds more restrictions, I'm still sticking with em.
got a free month of moviepass, luckily there are a decent amount of theaters that aren't AMC in the metro area (emagine, ICON, etc) so i figure i will give it a shot, i watched my girlfriend use hers the other day and it seemed easy enough though. if im not a fan i might try the AMC VIP one.
This is really dumb considering their suggestion if you want to switch plans from the 3 movie a month to unlimited is canceling your subscription then signing up again for the other plan. Hope that's not the case, but I'm dumb for choosing this plan.
For some reason, the theater across the street from me is showing up blank in the app now. What gives?! Guess I have to click on the “unlisted showing” option on there?
Advanced tickets are the biggest thing to me. That and the bring a friend option. The amount I spend to go Thursdays -- which is the best option to see movies for my girlfriend and I -- easily outweighs MP's limitations at this point.
So just letting you know my opinion so far: I find AMC A-List or whatever it's called to be pretty convenient. I have a lot of AMCs around me so it works for me and makes much more sense than MoviePass. However, if I'm meeting up with a friend, knowing that we might have to go out of our way to go to a AMC is a little annoying. Here's a cool little analysis of three current programs including AMC and MoviePass: MoviePass, AMC Stubs A-List, and Sinemia--We Put All 3 To The Test - GameSpot
I've been slacking BIG TIME. There's about a dozen movies out right now that I need to see. Hope I can catch up in the next few weeks.
