Not to be a brat because this has been a good deal, but it’s some bullshit to sign up for something that promises a movie every day for $10/month and have the terms change every month since signing up. If this is going to be every movie that’s selling well, regardless of release date like the email implies, I think I’m gonna have to cancel. It’ll just be the same price as a regular movie ticket eventually.
No I feel you, beggers can't be choosers but eventually it won't make sense The whole purpose is that I don't feel guilty spending money on Mama Mia 2
It's going to be great don't worry (I'm low key excited also but ready for a terrible movie with ok songs)
Regal waiting is a smart move. Why compete with MoviePass when they are still bringing in money? Why force people to choose? If they wait, when MP dies, they swoop in as the savior to the people. I can’t wait.
the one regal theatre here in my town is only a $3 theatre which I hardly use. The one in the next town over is like a god tier regal that has all the good movies + indies except the only sucky thing is NL reclining seats
oh for sure, it's just wild that a year ago I would have spent $14 to see it and now I'm basically paying nothing haha
So I bailed on MoviePass. I have AMC right now and I'm trying the first movie tonight. I'll let you know how it all goes.
I know this is a super quick update, but the priority lane for concessions is a big plus for me and the rewards for them are nice as well.
I get some sort of perks to redeem about every 3rd visit with my AMC Stubbs membership. And yeah, I sorta feel like an asshole walking past giant lines of people in my gold lane, but I get over it quickly. When MP dies it will be an easy transition for me.
I would probably do both AMC and Regal, it would be more than Moviepass but I would probably only have to see like 4 movies for it to make sense, one 3D movie might even have me break even
Whenever MP goes down and Regal launches their own service I'll definitely be joining that. Regals by me have had all the smaller, indie films I've been seeing with MP which looks to be the deal breaker for me.
I'll switch to Regal when they do theirs. AMC sucks. Side note. I hate movie theaters. This was a dumb idea. People need to learn to shut the fuck up when the movie is on.
We had a loud ass person during Jurassic world earlier this week and the only reason I didn’t tell them to stfu was because I couldn’t tell if they had some sort of disability
during uncle drew the dude next to me was saying every single comment that popped up in his head to his girlfriend during the movie. and on the other side was a couple cuddling and making out so that was terrible.
Felt accomplished just now going to my theatre at midnight to get tickets to the 8pm showing tomorrow (technically today) for Antman. Got a great seat before it sold out and no surge charges.
Would love the AMC subscription but the only one by me is at a mall and that makes it crowded and full of teens. Just signed up for the waitlist for the Alamo drafthouse pass and now THAT is something I’ll leave moviepass for
At this point MP is still the best deal for me since my favorite theater is Cinemark and honestly their monthly plan is just not a great deal. The AMC deal is appealing but the theaters arent quite close enough for me (or it's Citywalk and that's never worth it). I also like the freedom of being able to go to different chains in different locations. I've been to like 8 different theaters in my area
Also I saw Won't You Be My Neighbor yesterday and everyone should see it if it's playing in your area. Highly highly recommended.
The Cinemark plan is literally a joke compared to MP/AMC/Whatever else comes out. They're definitely going to have to change their plan.
Just got the email from MP explaining the peak charges that will begin next month. I think I’m gonna give AMC’s deal a whirl next month instead.
I honestly don’t think the cinemark deal is terrible, just looks bad in comparison to the rest. My dad is a super casual movie goer and one ticket a month is plenty for him plus the 20% off concessions really adds up. Definitely weak compared to the great deal of moviepass and the AMC plan but I don’t think it’s necessarily going for the same crowd
