According to the email the ones that are on Peak Pricing will have a red lightning bolt next to it, and ones that are getting close to Peak Pricing have a grey lightning bolt next to it. It seems to be a real time tracking thing so if you get there early you're more likely to avoid it, and in the example given it's like $3.40 at Peak Pricing. They're also gonna be rolling out one "Peak pass" a month so you can skip the peak pricing.
Haven't seen this in my app yet. How does it work? You swipe your MP and then your own debit for the surcharge?
I wonder because I have the year sub right now if those lightning bolts will even show up on the app at all
see you know what pisses me off about this. This was screens shoted for a movie 9 hours before it even starts. And this particular movie is going on 2 months old now. How the heck is it at peak pricing? Maybe if it was like an hour before the show and 3/4 sold out I could see that, but give me a break. Imagine walking into that theatre and its got 3 other viewers in it. What was so peak about it?
I mean, we will have no way of knowing if they play fair with it. But if they do, I should be okay. I have off Thursdays and have been picking up my ticket around lunch time and you can’t do online tickets at my theater. Which means if I continue doing what I do I’ll always be one of the first MP customers buying tickets. We shall see what happens.
I don't think it is, at all. The email made it seem like if it's x amount full, they'll hit it with the surge pricing. I just wonder what that x is, if it's 80%, or something lower like 60-70%.
I think I'm gonna see how it goes with the surge pricing and give it a couple months and if it gets to ridiculous do the AMC thing I feel like it's gonna wind up being like every time I go to the movies, I'm not mad I understand they need to survive, but I'm also not in a place where I just randomly go to the movies whenever it's usually opening weekend
One month in and this has gotten me back to going to movies and while I don’t understand how any of it works from a sustainability standpoint, on a personal level I’m very impressed and satisfied
I cannot confirm nor deny that Regal may or may not be ready to launch their program but are only going to do so as soon as Moviepass goes belly up... which apparently is going to happen sooner than later.
Just saw that the AMC membership includes premium showings like IMAX. And the subject of the email they sent me says “Want to see your favorite movies on repeat?” Taking shots right at moviepass. That’s a great deal, but I signed up for MP in April, so I won’t be looking for a change until next April unless they go down.
