I got the year subscription to Moviepass. There aren't AMCs where I usually go to hang out with friends.
I also signed up for the year subscription of MoviePass and already covered the cost of it with how many movies I've seen. Basically free movies for the remaining nine months of my subscription so I'll play it by ear next spring if I make a switch (or if MP is even still around at that point).
Also, used this to see Won't You Be My Neighbor? and Tag most recently. Enjoyed both, but for completely different reasons of course.
I'll stick with moviepass until it goes under. There's an AMC near me, but Cinemark is closer. Sadly, Cinemark's subscription plan is kind of crappy.
ymmv, the Regal in Crossgates Mall (the "big mall") upstate has awful seats and screens, and one of those faux IMAXs that's like smaller than some other competitor's standard DLPs. yet, if i go to Colonie to a much smaller mall, their Regal is like the height of luxury and up to date on all the tech and seating it's fuckin weird
The nice thing about MP is that you can be on the other side of town (or even be on vacation in another state) and you can go to just about any theater you want without having to worry about finding a certain chain. AMC's deal isn't bad, especially if MP didn't exist, but I'll stick with MP since it's half the price and I can go to the art house/indie theaters too.
Yeah if the future of this is each theater company providing their own subscription service, it's really gonna stink, because I love the freedom of being able to choose my theaters based on where i am and available showtimes. I will see moviepass through to the very end.
I ordered my movie pass like last week or the weekend and they just sent me an email today saying I'll get it in two weeks. Did all yours take that long?
I'm stoked about the AMC one the more I think about it. Beyond the extra features - the theater is closer to me, I'd get rewards which I don't at Alamo, and mine has a massive IMAX screen.
So I don't know how that works. I thought you could only use that if the theater accepted the app or something?
I'd like to point out that AMC which stood for American Multi-Cinema is owned by a Chinese company. I find that amusing.
I got mine in eight days so I don't know. Hopefully it won't take too long. They seem to be running smoother now.
I got mine in 9 days. My brothers took 2 months. I ordered mine significantly later than my brother did and had mine before he had his.
That sounds like something you'd get from an Etsy seller or a Kickstarter project. That shouldn't happen for a company of this size.
