Anyone seen Phantom Threads? It's playing in the cheap theater that shows older movies and I'm a big DDL fan.
Just watched Infinity War for the second time. I had to check in/buy a ticket for "I Feel Pretty" to work my way around the new MP rule.
I took everyone's advice and saw Phantom Thread tonight. What a beautiful film. Not at all what I was expecting, great way for DDL to go out.
This makes me happy to hear!! So I used MP tonight for my 18th film since February and it immediately prompted me to send a picture of my stub for the first time. Got my best friend, who came with me, too. Son of a bitch!
Saw Isle of Dogs today. Was a treat. Got my first picture prompt, but I had to enable camera. Went back to app and the reservation cancelled, but I already got my ticket. I messaged with a picture and it was handled. also I’m assuming you can’t see movies you’ve already seen before the new rule was applied right? So I saw black panther in February but since it’s on my log I can’t see it again now correct?
They could use a system similar to those apps that scan credit card photos just to recognize the text, but I doubt it since that could lead to complications. My guess is that it’s either a bluff to keep people honest or they store the photos in case a pattern of fraud arises and they need to check out the account.
Yeah I kinda think it’s a bluff. My ticket stub at Galaxy Theatres is a long receipt-looking paper, while most others are small stubs (usually with abbreviated text).
I imagine they have a picture scanner code (like Facebook’s face recognition) and if it doesn’t find the proper text it flags the photo and then a human has to verify it. Cuts way down on actual work.
moviepass has the most confusing media strategy of all time. i feel like they just keep letting negative press build and let everyone get hysterical, just to pull back and be like "jk everything's fine, here's your unlimited movies kiddos."
Wait so we can use Moviepass for the same movie more than once again? It's allowing me to check into Infinity War again.
i'd be careful- i notice that it sometimes takes a minute for updates to apply to all accounts and then you have to deal w/ customer service after they ban you for their mistake.
MoviePass Revives Its Unlimited Plan according to this, no movie twice rule is still in effect. "That explains why repeat viewings for popular flicks have become verboten, as well as a so-called beta program that asks certain members to upload a photo of tickets purchased with their MoviePass card, to confirm that they’re using their subscription as intended. Fail to do so more than once? The account gets cancelled."
i'm signing up now, and repeat viewings are still a no-go. 2.3. A valid MoviePass subscription to the Service entitles you to: (1) see one (1) 2D film per calendar day through MoviePass; and (2) a single seat, depending on availability, for a 2D film showing open to the general public. The Service excludes premium showings such as: 3D films, IMAX, 4D, XD and specialty theaters. The Service is available every day of the week, subject to the theater being open, inventory, and usage. THE SERVICE PROHIBITS REPEAT VIEWINGS OF THE SAME MOVIE. Alternative or future MoviePass Service subscription plans may include (1) premium plans that provide access to 3D, IMAX, and specialty formats and (2) capped plans (limited amount of movies per month).
The app definitely let me check in for it again. I'll probably get my subscription cancelled if I go though, hah?
My movies are still blacked out if I've seen it so as everyone else has already confirmed, still a no go
