Not movies but concessions. Honestly they charge 7.50 for a small popcorn and that’s absurd to another level. I will gladly play their system to get discounts lol

Edited to add: I also don’t see it as “wrong” cause the theater is getting every dollar from the tickets I’m buying. Just not from me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

 

I only eat movie popcorn when it's free, it never tastes as good as it smells

I am not breaking any rules that I am aware of. My theater accepts MoviePass as payment and still scans my awards card.

If the theater didn’t get paid by MoviePass I might feel bad. But they still get that money. If they want to give me free stuff, I’m gonna take advantage.

 

I used MoviePass for a $4 ticket at our discount theater the other day and felt like a total asshole haha.

But re: rewards cards, I have a ton of Regal points that I rarely ever use, I just like earning them and watching them grow for some reason. Sometimes I give my free popcorn or soda to friends which makes me feel cool haha.

 

Just checked to make sure my particular theater wasn’t dumb. But nothing in Regal’s terms and conditions say you shouldn’t use MP to get points.

That could change at some point, but as of right now I am following all rules and I’m greatly benefitting.

I saw a post a month or so ago on that Moviepass reddit where a guy was told by a regal manager he couldn’t get rewards points while using movie pass. He wrote corporate about it and they emailed him back saying “any and all paying customers are entitled to rewards points” and they gave him like 50,000 free points for the trouble. He posted the screenshot of the email too.

 

They actually do exclude a few things, but for normal customers that seems to be true.

 

Could’ve sworn I read or heard somewhere that MP has it in their TOS that you’re not allowed to get any reward points when using their card.

Could be wrong but i think it was John Campea talking about it in his show and pretty sure he pulled up a screenshot of it in their TOS and was pretty pissed cuz his friend tried and they didn’t allow it. Idk memory is hazy on it.

 

It’s phrased in a way that indicates if you are purchasing a ticket just to get the points. As long as the purpose is to view a movie you aren’t violating terms.

I think I’ve just been nervous to use it. I’m treating this moviepass thing like a majestic deer that’s decided to chill out near me and I’m afraid to make the slightest move to scare it away (get my pass taken away)

 

I’ve used it 15 times this year and gotten points every single time.

 

The last third of Beirut was really good but didn't quite make up for a really boring first 66%. Should have been better overall with the cast it has.

is moviepass only 4 movies/month now? i just heard about it the other day and the article said i could see a movie every day if i wanted to?

 

They apparently go through periods where they offer four movies a month with another promotion, this time iHeartRadio.

 

does that apply to everyone who has moviepass, or only the people who sign up right now? i'd rather wait - iheartradio is useless and i'd rather have the daily movie

 

It doesn't apply to people that already have MoviePass. I think I went to six movies last week haha. And from what I understand the promotion will eventually end and revert back to a movie a day.

 

Question: I'm thinking about taking a trip to the movie theater on my lunch break to just get away from the office and watch like 40 minutes of Super Troopers 2 before having to go back. (I already saw it last week in full.) Can you check into a movie on the app after it already started. I want to plan it so i get to the theater about 15 minutes late so i don't waste my lunch watching previews. But I'm afraid I may not be able to check in on the app once the movie showtime is past.

 

Yes, I always show up about 10-15 minutes after the start time. I think after 30 or 45 minutes you can no longer check in

 

fantastic thanks for the quick response! I guess sitting in the theatre in a recliner by myself for 40 minutes is better than sitting in a break room at work. I cant believe I havent thought about this earlier. I may even go back tomorrow to watch the second half of the movie lol

Planning to go see a movie late tonight (11 or so) and hit up the kiosk after to grab my Infinity War ticket for tomorrow night.
