just looking at March calendar again and there is at least 7 movies I want to see this month. NICEEEE.
At least they're being fairly up front about it. Other companies do the same stuff but aren't as transparent about it.
I think the only thing to be worried about is if someone uses it to get loyalty points and then doesn’t go to the movie. If they bother to use that data they could terminate accounts for it. But, to me, why would they purposefully cut customers? Unless they only take action on people who do it ALL the time.
They don't give any type of time frame when they say they are tracking you before and after you go to the movie. So essentially they could be tracking you 24 hours a day?
Also, I went to the theater after work to see Annihilation and I checked into the movie and as I was walking into the theater I realized I didn't have my Moviepass card in my wallet so then I got sad and canceled it and went home.
In my phone setting I allow MoviePass to only track me while I’m using the app, so I gotta assume a hard close stops the tracking.
I think I enjoyed Jumanji more than I did Dunkirk. I've been able to use my Moviepass and my AMC Stubs at kiosks, even though I think we're not supposed to. Has anyone heard of AMC doing anything about it? (I wouldn't think MP cares, it has nothing to do with their policy, right?)
I'm not sure if they actively do anything about it but I did go to the AMC Burbank 16 (went there for the first time on the 1st) and tried to use my Stubs at the kiosk but it cancelled the order when I tried to use my MP. Then the kiosk said I hit my limit for that card. When I tried to use it at the box office she said that I can't use it.
It's against the TOS for AMC, but it doesn't violate anything in MP's TOS. I've exclusively been using the kiosk at AMC and I get Stubs points every time. There were some people on reddit claiming at certain AMC theaters were tracking the MP card numbers and sending out warning emails to people using it with Stubs, but I have gone to like 40 movies and had no issues.
I checked that site the other day that shows the transactions on your MP card, and they consistently are adding a few dollars more than the actual ticket price to my card when I check in, then they unload the unused amount. Seems strange.
