I had this issue too when I got my card. I just deleted and reinstalled the app and it popped up for me. Might not be the exact same circumstance but it’s worth a shot. Also that cheaper monthly rate is only available to subscribers who paid for a year up front unfortunately.
hmmm.... maybe try uninstalling/reinstalling the app?!?! I'm 90% sure that somewhere on that subreddit, there is a discussion about your exact problem. There used to be a main FAQ page that was like a go-to guide for new MoviePass users that I would consider mandatory reading, but I can't seem to find it now. Browse that subreddit though and I'm sure you'll find something. Or just post a new thread on that sub about it and I'm sure u/Viper0us will get you your answer. He seems to be the MoviePass reddit know-it-all.
When I first got my card I had issues activating it. Once I got a hold of MP they activated it for me and I was good to go. If you haven't I would just call the number that's been posted in here and have them activate it
I think she did try uninstalling and reinstalling, but we'll give that another shot I also think I found a way to actually reach someone by customer service so maybe we can get that to work
I think I mentioned a friend gifted me a 3 month subscription for Christmas and I FINALLY used this yesterday for Annihilation. I have only seen 1 movie since Christmas (because I suck) and at the time my phone was a piece of shit and would not load the theaters in the app at all. I'm hoping my 3 months starts yesterday and not from when I activated the card.
I believe it starts when you see your first movie Edit: for a normal subscription. I have no clue about a 3 month promo
Your subscription definitely starts when your card is activated but your card may not be activated until you see your first movie depending on how you do it. There should be a place in the app that tells you when your cycle started
It has a “Next Billing Date” but it literally says unknown. Maybe if I put my card info in it’ll tell me. I activated it in the app when my card arrived. Oh well. It’s still a good deal I just don’t like thinking I wasted my friend’s money haha.
Hmm... that's weird. Mine says the 24th which is the day my card arrived and the day I typed the info into the app but I didn't see a movie until the 26th. I thought for sure I saw something about it in their FAQ but I can't find it anymore. Well I'm sorry for making that even more confusing for you haha
No thanks for the help! I tried adding my card and it says they’re experiencing an error so who knows! I’ll try later.
I’ve troublesshooted Moviepass in the every way to try to get the card to activate. I’ve read through the subreddit and tried other tricks. I’ve called customer service multiple times but always get a promoted a “high volume” message. I’ve sent an email to cs to resolve the problem. No luck at all.
My Movie Pass came in what seems to be record time, 5 days! Probably going to see Game Night this weekend.
Might try it for the first time this Friday for The Shape of Water. I have had my card for a few weeks now.
Having a different movie to see every day is so much fun. I’m going to be really bored when this “Best Picture Film Festival” is over.
Was gonna see Game Night today as a treat to cheer myself up but missed the bus by literally 30 seconds. Been pouting at home all day
Will the app actually read the receipt? They don’t seem to have enough employees to audit the receipts.
“The process is really simple. All you’ll have to do is enable camera access for your MoviePass app, and then the app will prompt you to take a photo of your ticket stub after you purchase a movie ticket. Once the photo verification is processed (this will only take seconds), you’ll be able to purchase your next ticket the following day. We don’t believe this extra step should impact your experience.” I imagine it’s just a barcode reader or photo recognition.
Not the end of the world for me tbh. I think it'd be easy to snap it before I head in. Obviously they're trying to crack down on people gaming the system.
