almost done with my first listen, WAYYYYYYYYY better than the last album, its definitely more engaging imo they also dropped a new music video for i hope you choke
New Movements fan. I enjoyed all the singles so figured I'd probably enjoy the album. Nice to see the quality is just as high (if not higher) on the songs they held back for the album. I Hope You Choke, Dance With Death and Coeur D'Alene are all absolute bangers. I think I'll be getting a ticket for the London show and also delving back in to the discography. Seems the debut is a good place to go next.
Super cool! I love this band so much and think people are way too hard on them for not writing feel something 3 times.. the hooks on this record are undeniable and it sounds phenomenal!
If you like those, especially Dance With Death, I’m guessing you’ll love No Good Left to Give. Have fun!
same, and another i wish bands wouldn't release half of the album before it drops, no mystery anymore, especially when its only ten tracks, 5 outta 10 is literally half ot it!
Got my London tickets! I love discovering a band and immediately having a date in the diary to see them. If anything, it excites me a bit more that I'm going to get some diversity from the other 2 albums. I've seen Citizen mentioned quite a bit in reviews / threads about Movements and if their discography is stacking up anything like Citizen's then I'm all for it. Citizen have an album for every mood at this point.
Yeah I think I listened to Tightrope once and was like, “that was great and I won’t listen again until it comes out.” and never listened to whatever the 5th single was. I recommend it!
I think I listened to each single once maybe? I'm definitely overdoing the two Gaslight singles right now, so I know the feeling.
Unfortunately we live in an era now where the music industry is dominated by playlist placements and getting as many streams out of a record as possible. With more singles bands can stretch out an album roll out and have more opportunities for large streaming boost on things like release radars, Spotify playlists, and algorithmic playlists. The “album” is almost useless to labels outside of packaging things to the small devoted following these types of bands have. So I’m just happy that records still exist and we can still enjoy the music that way. I highly recommend skipping multiple singles, etc for releases that you’re excited about. However, I am also guilty of overplaying singles so I totally see both sides of the coin.
I went in blind and agree the standout is Tightrope. Really tight album - they’re consistently great.
Keep coming back to this. Pat has gotta been one do the best singers in the genre now. Such a cool band. I’m completely fine with them leaning into these pop melodies as long as the hooks are good and the performances pop!
Yeah I'd given it a break for a few days due to the insane release day on Friday. It already feels super familiar and I had a blast just singing along. I can't wait to hear these songs live.
