Didn't know this was coming until the other day. Listened to it on the stream but now I'm gonna have to buy the record because now only having A Crow Looked At Me feels like only having half of a record.

Lines that hit me incredibly hard out of nowhere today:

As my grief becomes calcified, frozen in stories
And in these songs I keep singing, numbing it down

These waves hit less frequently
They thin and then they are gone
You are gone and then your echo is gone
And then the crying is gone
And what is left of this merchandise?

I think the title track is my favorite at this point.

 

I can't wait to sit down with this tomorrow

 

Yeah I know it’s very early but this is one of the best albums Phil has ever made

 

This is exactly what I expected it would be, so incredibly cathartic and freeing. "Earth" is unreal

 

listened to this in the car and was floored. damn

 

also just want to echo the black humor of the title track's chorus is incredible and hilarious

 

Finally just listened to the whole thing. Great

I love Phils writing in "Distortion" when he starts singing about the pregnancy scare with the person he didnt plan on being with. Its amazing because he introduces this situation, mentions he was ashamed and embarrassed it happened. Then as his words further, the topic slowly gets more and more complicated and he starts tackling some really hard to grasp concepts about past, future, ancestors and by now you totally forgot what brought you to that thought in the first place (the pregnancy scare), then all of sudden its like youre slapped back into the actual issue at hand again when he says "But she had her period eventually and I went back to being twenty-three". Its like in that moment all of a sudden things were simple again and all the complex things he was just mentioning didnt matter anymore, it was all in a panic. Thats such a remarkable moment of writing to me.

 

Safe to say she's a Mount Eerie fan too

 

Dang. She was probably at the show last night. So bummed I missed it. Just gonna try and forget about it lol

 

Yeah I bet she was for sure. I'm sorry you missed it man.

 

I haven't listened to the record yet, but I read some of the lyrics and that passage stuck out to me as especially brilliant. Need to get on this soon.

 

kind of wild how much bigger he's gotten just since these two records came out

or at least he's been pulling a difference, newer audience

 

Yeah, I’m hesitant to say these albums are “huge,” but it’s been super interesting to see the wide variety of people who have mentioned these albums. Definitely the most attention he’s ever gotten since The Glow Pt. 2 I feel.

 

So im listening to The Glow, Pt. 2 for the first time ever. I am blown the fuck away right now
