mount eerie stuff has a lot of influences, some stuff is really folksy but some stuff is actually weirdly metal influenced, lol the microphones stuff isn't this stripped down but he's incredibly influential to almost all the DIY indie artists of today
Had no idea it was Julie Doiron on Lost Wisdom or at least I never made the connection when I used to listen to it all the time, very cool. Love that record.
Honestly, the song just expresses a truth about death and how you feel (or don't feel) after someone you love dies that I haven't been able to find and it really resonates with me. Not for anything but my father passed away unexpectedly fairly recently and I thought it would bring forth musical inspiration but instead I've felt musically dead so his line saying, "it's not for singing about, it's not for making into art" makes me feel sort of ok about that?
Like I said in the other thread, I'm just really nervous for my first listen of this when it comes out
Is this the same kind of devastating as the last Nick Cave album? Because i've only just listened to that, dunno if i can cope with another album of bleakness so soon after.
