I think that's a very harsh description of Piastri. He's beating Lando in the quali head to head and has shown himself to be equal to or better than Lando fairly frequently. If you think Lando is rapid, I don't know how you can only think Oscar is steady. Charles is prone to a mistake under pressure. Not sure how you could gauge where Lewis and Fernando would be in these Mclarens. They could both be well past their best now. Max is the only one I think is a guarantee to batter the Mclaren two if he also had a Mclaren. Given how much Piastri has stepped forward since last year, I wouldn't be shocked if it were pretty close with those two.
Yeah, I’m probably still factoring in last season too much. Partially cause I have only seen half the races this year, and also cause it’s hard to tell how quick they are as drivers when their car is a rocketship. But I think you are probably right.
Really curious to see what Apple can do with the sport, how they can leverage their marketing might/financial resources to open it up even further.
The step up from Piastri in consistency and pace this year is nuts. Obviously there's still chance for him to have a slump (like he did last year), but it's hard to envisage now.
Lando had his best chance to reduce the points lead today and it barely changed lol pit stop didn’t help him but that’s rough
Mclaren really need to sort their pit stops out. You don't see the other big teams (or even the smaller ones, tbf) having so many sluggish stops. At a race like yesterday, where nobody could overtake, that was just a disaster.
