What are Alpine playing at today? Their strategy has been so weird throughout. What's the reason for them running such a slow pace since the red flag?
That was fun despite the track, not because of it. They need to make the cars smaller and lighter for it be viable again. It would be so fun if they could actually overtake. Gutted for Sainz but happy for Perez, he’s lowkey done a very good job this year.
McLaren strategists are fucking idiots. Absolute fucking idiots. Ricciardo massively faster than Norris on a slower tyre and McLaren have Norris hold him up for 10+ laps just to pit Norris to come out in 16th and compromise Danny’s race. Zhou out now too. 3 Ferrari engines out and we’re not even halfway through.
Not a good day to have anything Italian on your car yesterday... Aside of all the car failures, was a bit of a drab race. Some good overtakes from Lewis and Seb, but not a great deal going on after the first few laps. Lewis looked pretty broken at the end of that one. I do wonder how long it's going to be before a driver has to miss a race because one of these cars has caused an injury. The Mclaren strategy really was a disaster. They were trying to give Lando the space to over-cut Alonso and it just didn't work at all. It sounds like their setup overall was a bit questionable though. They went high downforce and it left them with a pretty poor top speed, at a track with a 2km straight...
Yeah race was a snooze. The better race over the weekend, the LeMans 24 Hours, had some fantastic racing throughout. American manufacturer, Glickenhaus, finished on the overall podium, something that hasn't happened since 1967
Watching the two McLaren’s crawl down the straight in a pair was horrible to watch. Most exciting part of the race was Yuki’s stop with the broken DRS and Seb overtaking Ocon followed immediately by him locking up and having to do a pretty sweet 180.
I felt really sorry for Yuki. He was having a strong race and it was a very strange fault from his car. I wonder if some debris or litter struck it. That Seb recovery was pretty classy.
Yuki has overall been doing well this season, it’s nice to see. Hopefully things start working out for him better to get the finishes.
Verstappen should stroll to the title this year, Ferrari already having to fully change an engine this early in the season is not good.
