Watch this be the first time this year Lewis’ car has serious problems.

Maybe it's all a ruse to get Bottas to put in a performance.

Imagine being Bottas if Russell out qualifies or out finishes him though.

    It won’t happen but Jesus.

Can't believe I'm rooting for a Merc this weekend

Mick Schumacher confirmed for Haas. I didn’t realise he was leading F2. Must have been a good comeback after struggling against Schwartzman early in the season.

    Same. It feels dirty.

    Absolutely subscribe.

sadly I think Red Bull will struggle this race though.

So pleased for Russell, scenes if he out-qualifies and finishes ahead of Bottas.

I caught a couple of the GP2 races around the time he started turning his season around. Schumacher was very impressive. He looked a lot more composed than some of the other drivers who were still looking a bit raw by comparison.

Honestly wouldn't be entirely surprised if he out qualifies Bottas. That's not a slant on Valterri, but Russell looks something special and his speciality is qualifying. They're on a circuit layout that none of them have done before too, so I think that gives Russell more of a chance to get near to him. I expect Bottas will be super motivated though. Losing to him by anything other than mechanical failure is going to look really bad for his Merc career going forward.

Bottas is a really good benchmark, so I think FP and Quali is going to be fascinating in terms of seeing what Russell can do.

Ah that's good to know, I can't remeber the last F2 race I watched, but it was looking like he was struggling but still pulled out a top 10 finish. Might have been Barcelona. Looking at wikipedia he's only finished below 6th once since then. Pretty consistent.

It usually seems to take Mick a season/season and a half of learning before he starts to lock in and fire on all cylinders. Same thing happened in F3

Super curious to see if Tsunoda will get his super license. If he does, he's probably taking Kvyat's seat

Is it not a tad early for Tsunoda? He seems like an exciting driver though.

    yeah dumb question in hindsight

Tsunoda was who I had in mind talking about raw drivers. Quick, but the decision making was a bit wayward. I've not seen any races since Mugello I think, so maybe he's settled in a bit, but he looked like he might be a bit of a liability in an F1 car at the moment.

Red Bull should do what we all want and dump Kyviat, put Albon and Gasly together so they can duke it out and make the midfield exciting and then put Perez in next to Max. It won't happen, but I want it!

Yeah, that's my ideal scenario for sure.

    @fangclubb Prestigious

yeah I'd love if Albon went back to AT and won a race with them like Gasly did. It would be hilarious.

That would be my ideal choice too. Maybe Hulk instead of Perez but that's just personal preference.

Qualifying is going to be bananas this weekend given how short the track is.

55s in FP1. Wonder what Q3 times will be.
