I think this is a tease for something new. It's still a new song. It may not be written now or anything, but the fact they are releasing stuff and all the members are in better places and working together I believe they will release something completely new in the future.

 

The trend of MCS b-sides being some of their best songs continues.

Though it not being "new" is slightly deflating. But the poster above me has the right energy. Also now I can play this a lot and not feel bad about it being on a future album.

 

Wasn’t there a post about how they were in the studio last year or have I made that up in my hopeful mind?

 

I'm pretty sure they were, they've done a few things since the comeback tour. Always working on new ideas and such.

 

so that means that he took those lyrics from this song and used them on Go!

 

I like to think the band had plans to record or work on new stuff, but COVID happened and it threw a wrench in their plans. So they decided to release this in the meantime and got the rights back to the song. Fingers crossed!!

 

They definitely met up earlier in the year and recorded. There was an instagram post about it.

I’ve played this song on repeat so much this morning my wife just said “I agree this song is great but can we please listen to something else?”. Whoops.

 

Just switch it to "I'm not asking you to leave" by Motion City Soundtrack. There. Problem solved.

Also, I think it’s odd that Justin hasn’t explained the origin of this song on social media. I know someone here said it was for a Twilight soundtrack but at this point that’s all we have to go on, right?

 

Should have been on EIIKM.

 

Weirdly, the two B sides from EIIKM (Not Asking You To Leave, The Worst Part) are probably two of the best songs on that record.

Even If It Kills Me, Last Night & Fell In Love Without You would be other top choices from that era.

 

Wow this song had a lot more to do with Twilight than we would have expected. Thank you Stephanie Meyer! It probably would have stayed lost to time without her love for the band.

That’s so cool I never thought I’d be thanking Stephanie Meyer for letting me hear another Motion City Soundtrack song

 

It always makes me wonder what else is locked away in the vaults by bands I like.

 

Floating Down The River is a CRIMINALLY over looked song. The emotional significance of the lyrics in that song are simply huge.

I only wish I were younger, so I would have more time to explore

 

I like the lyrics a lot more than I like the melodies in that song. Probably my least favourite closer of theirs.

 

Fun fact: Justin wanted Floating Down The River to be the opener of Go but got outvoted haha.
