Really refreshing that this walks the line between a signature MCS song, yet not something that is just derived from an older/better song. Love this

"Echoes of an ancient heart" is very similar to "Echoes of my ancient past"

He also said "I fear the worst is yet to come"

Makes me wonder if this song has origins in writing for Go. Could just be a callback though

I'm tempering expectations at it being a one off song. I'd love for this band to be back making music though. I still remember discovering "Commit This To Memory" in a tiny Kerrang! review when they weren't very well known in the UK. I only checked them out as "Mark, ex blink-182" produced the album. So glad I did! Easily one of my favourite bands from this scene.

Even if they just release random things like this and never a full release, I'll be happy. I consider anything that happens with them now a bonus

This is great. I prefer this to everything off Panic Stations and at least 60% of Go.

Crazy they got Mark to produce this. I hope this turns into an entire album.

Seems odd to involve Mark for just one song, but also I guess under quarantine rules anything can really happen

I'm going to choose to believe he said solo album 2022 because a new MCS album is coming 2021

Justin played a snippet of this song for myself and some other fans at a meet-and-Greet for his solo tour a couple of years back. He said it was recorded around 2009/2010 and was their submission for one of the Twilight soundtracks, but they were rejected and probably the reason for the delay in release was due to Columbia being a major label and owning the track and being hesitant to release it to an indie band on Epitaph. Glad they finally got it released!

Well there ya go, not "new" but newly released. Thanks to @Zachary Dresch for having more info than the band themselves!

So, this version of the song may just be from a decade ago, and the band hasn't actually recorded anything since regrouping. Hmm.

It would make sense that this is an older unreleased track actually. They didn't tease anything. They aren't appearing to really elaborate on the song. They simply say they released it. Not a "new song" and no mention of writing or recording a song. They released it.
