yeah I like Boombox and Capital H. Those songs really show the Weezer influence since Weezer always throw a couple sillier songs (Undone, Hash Pipe, The British Are Coming) into their albums. I think thats another reason why I enjoy "Calling All Cops" as well. I've always thought this band was the best parts of Weezer, The Weakerthans, and The Get Up Kids. I also see some Dismemberment Plan influence in there as well.
re: Delirium - I think the chorus is pretty weak but I love the verses. Justin's verbosity is a big part of what I enjoy about the band and My Dinosaur Life in general is full of examples of him cramming as many words as possible into the songs.
Oh god. They were probably the best I've ever seen them and I'm really emotional now. They've been such an important band to me and to see them playing so many of my favorite songs ever, milestones of my life, with such passion and peak ability is really hitting me hard.
Yeah I was tearing up during that one, which I consider one of the greatest songs of all time, no question
easily. very powerful. probably pound for pound the best song they ever wrote, though theres a few others in their catalog I'd consider giving that honor to.
"You're the echoes of my everything. You're the emptiness the whole world sings at night. You're the laziness of afternoon. You're the reason why I burst and why I bloom. How will I break the news to you?" Quite possibly my favorite lyric of all time
Motion City Soundtrack LIVE Concert It's on 24 hour loop too. This gives me a full day to relive what one of my all time favorite sets last night. The night broke so many memories back from over the years. I'm not ready for the band to end, however, they're going out in the best possible way. Packed shows, lots of energy, and so much love.
They played in Cleveland the day after we won the NBA finals, and I think that really helped the evening be more of a celebration than a bummer that they were ending. They played a good set. I have seen this band so many times over the years. It still has not sunk in that I will never see them live again or hear new music.
I'm going to spin my vinyl of CTTM tonight in honor of being sober for nearly two years, for laying the concrete of getting my life back on track, and for finally starting to feel comfortable in my own skin.
Yep turns out that was a brilliant idea. I can pretty safely say CTTM is my favorite album. Clarity is still a really strong #2. It's one of those pieces of art that I feel like was created just for me. Which I know sounds selfish but you know what I mean, I think we all have that one piece of art or entertainment that we feel like is ours and ours alone in such a personal way. Just an incredible album recorded by 5 incredible musicians. Getting the opportunity to hug Justin Pierre and tell him that his band and his music saved my life and is the reason I want to create music and write songs (which I'm currently working on an EP now, lots of MCS influence I've noticed in my lyrics which makes sense). So anyways Commit This To Memory is a heartbreaking, life affirming, beautifully messy masterpiece
Beautifully said. While it didn't save my life or anything close to your experience, I hold that album in the same regard. Just an incredible piece of art.
Just listened to CTTM and EIIKM back to back and the lyrics on those two albums still impress the fuck out of me. Two of the most important albums lyrically ever for me. I'm going to miss this band so much.
hey @CoffeeEyes17 Listen to Sorority Noise’s cover of Motion City Soundtrack’s “Everything Is Alright”
