Lol it was way too much for me my favorite part was when someone said something like "yea but if you actually listened to those albums again you wouldn't think they were as good" as if I don't still regularly listen to every Motion City album
I love Go but I never listen to it because of the emotions that get dragged up when I do. Can’t see how anyone can call that boring.
Yeah I don't understand how people who enjoy MCS or pop rock in general can find that album boring. It's great.
Mdl as a copy of their old sound perplexes me. Like yeah both have Hoppus producing, and start similarly, but other than that? It's reach city.
Yea that was truly baffling me haha I always consider that album to be the one that specifically sounds the least like any other MCS album. It's a lot heavier sounded and more straightforward rock, especially with the lack of moog. And if it sounds like another album, it's IATM not CTTM
It's where Justin's love of fuzzy 90s rock shines through most. Come to think of it, maybe the intent was to say it was like IATM, they are probably most similar
even if it kills me is one of those records where i can appreciate the pacing of it almost as its own quality. like "it had to be you" -> "last night" -> "calling all cops" -> "can't finish what you started" -> i could practically list the rest of the album, it's just remarkable sequencing
i agree up until Where I Belong and Hello Helicopter. They're just kinda there for me. The Worst Part should have taken their place tbh
aw i like "where i belong" though it's prob my least favorite song on the record i guess. "hello helicopter" is extremely awesome and well placed
i gotta convince my band to cover "point of extinction" even though i have severe doubts as to whether i can sing and/or play the drum part
You're nuts if you are saying Where I Belong isn't one of the best songs on the album. Not only that, but Where I Belong->EIIKM is one of my favorite album finale stretches.
I asked Justin about the chances of us ever getting a MDL repress, and he said: "No. Columbia records owns the rights to that album and I don't think they even remember that we were ever on the label." Boo!!
listening to cttm and eiikm back to back it’s pretty obvious to me the latter is better even though they’re both great
Kidding aside, their first three are all-timers for me. MDL is probably only above Panic Stations for me, I don't like it as much as most seem to.
