I think the better songs on IATM are just so good they elevate it above whatever rough edges it has. I wouldn't quite put it on the same level as CTTM/EIIKM but it's not too far off.
I need to revisit Go. I listen to "Timelines" and "Circuits and Wires" often, but it's probably been a couple years since I spun the whole record.
Go is such a fantastic album, if you listen to it at the right time. It's one of my go-to fall/winter albums. It shouldn't have come out in the summer time.
CTTM>GO>EIIKM>=IATM>PS>MDL the correct answer. They are all great and I love them like children. MDL and PS both feel like attempts to recreate CTTM and I think thats why they fall a bit short but theyre still great.
Close. CTTM>EIIKM=IATM>Go>MDL>PS I'm pretty firm with that, I think. It's changed a bit over the years (finally got my head out of my ass and realized that EIIKM was a fantastic record), but I don't really see it changing any more at this point. *takes deep breath* CTTM, to me, is a flawless record; every song serves a purpose and has something that makes it stand out to me. Although it came out at a very important time in my life, and is immensely influential to me, I truly believe it is their best record from a quality standpoint, and not just due to nostalgia. I completely neglected EIIKM when it came out, for whatever reason it disappointed me greatly, I chalk it up entirely to being young and dumb. I can totally see why people would consider it their best, though I think there are just a couple small things that hold me back from seeing it at the level of CTTM. IATM isn't necessarily a better album than EIIKM, but I connected with it around the same time as CTTM and it was far more immediate for me, so the nostalgia factor is high. I guess I'd consider it their third best, but my second favorite, if that makes sense. Go came out at a very crucial time for me– I was just getting out of my first serious relationship and there were a lot of things about the lyrics that connected with me, and for some reason I find the album suited the summer release, although I know most people disagree. I simply don't have the emotional connection with MDL that I have for the aforementioned records, and I think it has a fair share of duds, but also some of their strongest songs. PS isn't bad, but it's got their weakest songwriting throughout, in my opinion. It doesn't have the lows of MDL, but it certainly doesn't have the highs either. *gasping for air*
man I find barely any weaknesses in MDL or PS / feels like the natural progress from those first few albums but more weathered and experienced / the final track on PS is so fucking good
There's like 2/3 songs on MDL I don't like very much and like 2/3 on PS I actually dislike. There's only maybe 3/4 on Panic Stations I really like, the closer being the main one but it still wouldn't crack my top 3 MCS closers.
MDL is probably second for me after CTTM lol CTTM MDL EIIKM IATM Go Never listened to Panic Stations lol
Hopping in on the rankings because why not. EIIKM > CTTM > Go > IATM > MDL > PS It's too bad because when MDL and PS hit for me (Worker Bee, Pulp Fiction, I Can Feel You, Gravity, etc.) they hit but they both have my least favorite songs from the band.
Just bought my ticket to see them in Philly on the Farewell tour. I was thinking about the VIP, because I wanted to get one more photo with the whole band but $100 bucks is too much for me to spend on a concert. Maybe I will be lucky enough to see them after the show.
Top three MCS song for me, and sometimes my favorite. If I could make one request for the farewell tour, it would be that.
In case you guys stopped going over to the other site: Time Turned Fragile: 3 Farewell Letters To Motion City Soundtrack
Same. I'm even more excited that Spill Canvas are coming out with them, honestly still love that band
anybody seeing them in Philly? i don't go to shows much so it seems weird to go alone haha. gonna prolly ask around on fb too
I'm going to try and be there. I'm already going to Starland, but I'm trying to make Electric Factory happen as well.
