Back when Panic Stations came out I messaged Justin on Facebook inquiring about that second album they supposedly recorded after Panic Stations but before it was released. He told me it was a "reimagining" of an older album and that it would be released. Never was. Man, do I want to hear that.
Yeah he told me the same thing. I suspect we will never hear it, but I assumed it was an acoustic greater hits.
My guess is that it's CTTM acoustic, and if there's any chance of us ever hearing it at this point, it will be on a "major" anniversary for the album (I'd guess when it turns 15).
I am going to have to watch that video sometime soon. IATM and CTTM are my favorite Motion City albums.
They were playing reworked, kind of stripped down/almost electronic versions of various songs before their sets and after they finished for a couple tours. I always figured they would get a proper release and I hope that's still the case.
I asked Justin about that mystery MCS album again a couple months back. He posted on Facebook the other day that he has been going through his social media messages from fans and trying to respond to them. He said this to me this morning: "Ask us again in a few years." ...do with that what you will.
I would like that except 4 of those songs already have acoustic versions from the deluxe album. Also if I remember right this was recorded around the CTTM 10-year so I'm sure that's what it is.
I don't think PS is very good. I pretty much only care for Days Will Run Away and I Can Feel You. The rest is just mostly boring to me...there's just nothing about it that would make me go back to it over CTTM, EIIKM, Go, or even MDL.
joke reply: k, let's fight real reply: I think that if Panic Stations was released between CTTM and EIIKM, people would have loved it. I can pull 4-5 songs off of PS that I really think could have been on CTTM.
I think Go is SUPER underrated. I think it just came out at the wrong time. It was released in the summer, but to me it feels much more like a fall/winter album. I think people were expecting a fun summer album from them.
I’m not so sure about this. I like it more than most but every other record in their discography has songs that are stronger than almost every song on PS.
