That's my second least favourite on there but I still think it's a fair bit better than Calling All Cops.
My Dinosaur Life is what made me start appreciating these guys. I wasn't that into them until that album came out. Good album.
I truly don't think there's an MCS song that I don't think is at least good, so that's always a caveat with me. (Inside Out and TKO come the closest though.) I started listening to them (outside of a couple songs) on an in depth level somewhere between EIIKM and MDL, and by the time MDL came out they had easily become my favorite band, so that record is always going to be special for me because it was the first time I was actually a part of the release cycle. Right when it came out they played an acoustic show at a Best Buy near me and had a signing and it was like my 3rd show (1st time seeing MCS). Incredible.
I also think that was the ideal time to get into them, because I pretty much see IATM, CTTM, and EIIKM as a trilogy of sorts. Each one got distinctively "poppier", but I think they all have a familiar vibe, and then I think MDL was the first one that they really shook up the formula on, so coming right at the end of the first act/in time for what came after I think maybe helped me appreciate the later albums more.
Not dwelling on it. Here we are. Even if it Kills Me Hold Me Down Days Will Run Away Time Turned Fragile Timelines Hangman Pulp Fiction Mary Without Sound Last Night Floating Down the River @!#?@! Hangman in top 10 is crazy to me but based on other opinions I've seen I might be the weird one there, ha. Modern Chemistry is waaaaaay too low, as is Perfect Teeth, Together We'll Ring in the New Year and a lot of EIIKM tracks, ha. @!#?@! is also a strange one to have so high.
The longer I look at it the more I see baffling things, ha. "It's a Pleasure to Meet You" over "It Had to Be You" is madness.
This is one of the few bands I'd consider ranking every song for but also what's the point when I know like 8 of the top 10 will be from CTTM
Do I? Mary Without Sound is top ten and there's another couple in the top 25. Red Dress is too low though. Looking at it now, I'd tinker a lot. Which is why I posted my first reactions haha.
i'm gonna rank every song someday but gotta listen to all of them a few times before i can trust myself with this task top 20 though (no order outside of TTF being the best) My Favorite Accident Perfect Teeth Indoor Living Mary Without Sound Attractive Today Everything Is Alright Time Turned Fragile (a top 5 song of all time) Feel Like Rain L.G. Fuad Make Out Kids Hold Me Down Fell In Love Without You Broken Heart Last Night Where I Belong (yup) Pulp Fiction Skin and Bones Son of a Gun Timelines Floating Down the River CTTM > IATM > EIIKM > Go > MDL > PS the only PS song i like is "Heavy Boots" and that's just because it's catchy as fuck but totally unremarkable
You're not alone. Best part of the CTTM tour was getting to finally see Hangman live. "I'm just a guy that never tried I'm just a stupid f*** with brilliant luck and sometimes a bright ideaaAAaaa" And it doesn't hurt that Mark Hoppus is singing it. I'm going to have to make one of these lists.
i like it but it and "New Year" are the only ones on that album that i don't love. maybe its because there's something so much better coming right after them lol
