Good guy, but a bad dude

I’m still young (didn’t get into them until Commit this to Memory)

  2. My Dinosaur Life was the first one I was a fan for, but a I'm pretty sure my brother burnt me the first three on CD a couple of years before that came out.

I got CTTM first, after hearing Everything Is Alright. Think I wanted it after hearing Hoppus produced

I remember getting into them when My Dinosaur Life came out. I have a vivid memory of listening to Commit This To Memory and Even if It Kills Me on repeat as I drove to and from the beach during one week that summer.

I remember downloading I Am the Movie from Kazaa or one of those programs after seeing people hype it up, probably on AP. I always got the album cover confused with the 28 Days Later poster for some reason (I think they came out around the same time). Anyway, I was hyped for the album and I told my friend I had a feeling it was going to be amazing. Neither of us thought much of it, and he never listened again, but it continued to grow on me and quickly became a favorite. CTTM was a day one buy for me.

Remember seeing the video for My Favorite Accident on MTV2 in 2003, and at the same time there was probably a little chatter on AP.net. Swiftly became obsessed with them.

I had definitely heard Everything Is Alright, probably on Fuse, but it was the five-star MDL review in AltPress that convinced me to get into the band.

Yeah I got into them with My Dinosaur Life and thought they were super cool but going back and getting into CTTM and EIIKM rocked my world.

My introduction to them is like a core memory for me. Commit This to Memory came out right at the end of my last year of high school, I was sitting in the foyer where all the graduating students hung out during free periods, and a friend just came up behind me and put his headphones over my ears with "Everything is Alright" playing. It was all over from there.

I heard "My Favorite Accident" while playing Burnout 3 and simply had to learn more about the band.

Most of my music taste is a result of playing Burnout 3.

    Figuring It All Out

I was working at Tilly's at the time and The Future Freaks Me Out was one of the videos on rotation throughout my shifts.

Also found out about The Mars Volta while working there when my manager had their new album on at the time and I was wondering why it sounded like there were birds in the store.
