Cmon Steve we’ve been through so much together around here. Just say you like it, for old times sake.
“Everyone will Die” hits hard for anybody, but it absolutely hit me by a ton of bricks when I became a parent. For better or worse, the kids listen to what we listen to, and really enjoy it, and I can remember putting this record on and thinking nothing of it until this song hit and I started singing it and I could not stop crying.
Boxelder rips and I won’t take any slander. History Lesson is an awful song on what is essentially their best album. Panic Station is overall good but TKO and Lose Control are not. There you go
Panic Stations is okay and Claudio is a good drummer but to me that album proves how important this band’s lineup is to their sound and the quality of their music. They work so well together.
It's even more apparent live than on the album to me. I saw them a bunch of times with Claudio drumming and always had a good time, but their set at Riot Fest in 2021 with Tony (which might have been one of his first shows back with the band?) was so tight and exciting. It just felt right to him back on those songs.
I was thinking about the drumming on that album earlier. It’s not that Claudio did a bad job, it just felt a little less standout to me. Perhaps part of that is being a new cog into a longstanding unit like MCS? To me, Tony’s is absolutely vital to lots of their best moments, and while I don’t play drums, I always felt like he had quite an identifiable sound for pop punk. He might be my favourite drummer in the genre.
Agree, Tony's drumming is vital to the band's identity. Even across all their albums with the different production and mixing choices that impact the overall sound of the band, his style sticks out - his drumming almost has a 'personality' to it, in a way that not many other drummers have (that I've come across).
Tony’s drumming is crucial to their sound IMO one of my favorite drummers, loved what he did on the last Joyce Manor album too
As a drummer, Tony is one of my biggest influences, 100%. Drummers like him and Derek Grant come along once in a lifetime where their drum part is just as catchy and infectious as the song itself.
So stoked for a new song. If it's as good as Stop Talking, then we are really in business for the MCS comeback.
