Justin is getting better! Absolutely bonkers that he has to go through all this crap including not being able to control his left foot, but I'm so glad he's getting the care he needs and is heading in the right direction! It's also so nice to see his bandmates sharing how happy they are about him being on the mend. I'm glad they care about each other so much.
Josh did a playthrough of one of their live recorded sets last night and practiced his guitar along with it and told people some really cool stuff about the band and the songs. I didn't know that they play When You're Around in a completely different key to make it easier for Justin to sing live. He showed us how to play each version and went step by step with the chords and finger placement. There's some real cool stuff with these guys. Love em.
Lol you guys with your ability to see them live *cries in Pacific Northwest* I don’t want to see them do an 8 song set opening for NFG and AAR
Panic Stations is a disappointment for their final album (as of right now) but damn "I Can Feel You" is so good.
It’s a tough comparison because they basically have 3.5/4 ALL TIME GREAT records as their first four releases, depending on how you feel about MDL (it’s 4/4 for me). Panic Stations had bad singles (Lose Control is the worst song on the record) but a ton of great highs. I Can Feel You absolutely wails and Days Will Run Away is enthralling today. In conclusion, Libya is a land of contrasts and this band fucking rules.
I think Panic Stations is fine. I wouldn't say good because there's so much inconsistency in quality and Lose Control is probably one of, if not the, worst songs they've ever released. It just feels like a bit more of a hollower/more generic version of MCS like it's a band trying to be MCS in some songs. Not all of them of course. I agree that Days Will Run Away is wonderful as well. I would be extremely curious to see what new stuff would sound like from them at this point, especially with Justin's solo records and Matt's band TENTS. We will be getting that VIP tour song so we still have that to look forward to.
Which is better? Panic Stations or Go? It seems Go has always been really underappreciated. But then again, I don't know if I've listened to Panic Stations more than once.
PS > Go I think Go is basically their version of JEW’s Damage. There are great songs hiding in that woodwork, but it’s harder to see them as currently constructed.
