CTTM IATM MDL EIIKM GO PS I am the movie is a straight up banger of a record with the only song I don't like being boombox generation
No shade to anyone or anything, but this has been a very eye opening day for me. I really thought IATM was universally beloved by MCS fans and in almost everybody's top 3
Real MCS-heads know. I actually just think it's the older "first" album, most people discovered discovered them with CTTM. Like a FUCT to TTTYG thing.
Can't quite explain how I feel about MDL. It's very, very good, I really enjoy most of the songs, but something always keeps it from fully clicking with my as an album, at least enough for it to surpass the first three. I just don't reach for it very often. Kind of a similar thing I have with DCFC's Narrow Stairs.
IATM CTTM EIIKM Go MDL Panic Stations I remember when punknews.org called MCS the best band you’ve never heard of. I feel likely that buzz helped get them signed to Epitaph. First two records are like almost equally great to me. I feel like this bands history is easy for me to rank. I hope they do record more music together again. So many great bsides and other songs too. Still happy Justin did some EP’s too.
*let's do this* Commit This To Memory My Dinosaur Life I Am The Movie Even If It Kills Me Panic Stations Go But they're all excellent imo.
Ya I guess that checks out. I started listening to IATM/CTTM/EIIKM pretty much simultaneously so I’ve always kind of heard them as a trilogy of sorts and just assumed everyone else thought the same
Echoing that I love most of their albums but also, for me personally, EIIKM is miles above anything else. All timer for me
Slightly embarrassed to admit that I haven’t actually listened to a ton of MCS outside of the more well known songs but I’m listening to EIIKM right now and Broken Heart to the title track is a hell of a run
Almost the same here for me, though I definitely have different favorites on MDL. I did start listening from IATM and loved it, but I haven't been going back to it all that much! Unlike with Fall Out Boy I revisit TTTYG quite routinely it seems. Chicago Is So Two Years Ago was always my favorite song though, loved having Patrick and Justin on a song together (same went for Everything Is Alright later on).
Did they ever officially release the original version of "History Lesson" that was recorded during the album sessions with Mark Hoppus? I have a really shitty quality MySpace stream rip, but I like that arrangement a lot.
Interesting. Didn’t know about this. MCS has gotta know could entirely pick up and continue going if they want to and get support. Tour showed that. Epitaph would continue their relationship. Justin’s still wrote MCS vibe stuff on some EP’s. Some guys have worked together on other non MCS music. Even if it required some limitations, they could be back making new music.
