Even If It Kills Me is ten years old September of this year, i still don't actually own that one (along with Panic Stations)
Man this is fucking weird imo. Maybe it's just that it was one of the first records I really got hyped for (and tbh was pretty let down by) but it still feels like it was like three years ago.
I'd be here for it as well. Would also be down for another Farewell Continental project but I'm not sure if that's feasible
Yeah, I'm pretty sure Justin said at some point soon they're gonna be putting all of FC's leftover merch on sale to go towards funding the new album
oh wait a second i DO own EIIKM. this album is really good. and i've never listened to Farewell Continental before, Justin plays guitar in it right?
Just received Panic Stations vinyl in the mail. only two I don't have is Go and My Dinosaur Life. Both of those are sold out so I can only find on ebay and are more expensive, MDL especially.
Panic Stations has really grown on me since its release. I also hold My Dinosaur Life in much higher esteem than I used to.
I will never understand why Panic Stations wasn't received better by most people. I really think they just picked 2 of the most lackluster songs on the album (although I honenstly enjoy them enough, and TKO is a lot of fun live) as the singles. If they had led off with something like Broken Arrow or Gravity. I think the whole attitude approaching the album would've been different. On a side note, I honestly think I'd have to say I Can Feel You may be my favorite MCS song at this point. That bridge gets me every time. And Days Will Run Away is such a perfect song to close the bands catalogue. And if my avatar didn't make it clear, My Dinosaur Life is one of MCS's finest albums. Well this turned into a rant - I still get emotional anytime this band comes up.
Still think PS is super weak, especially as their final album. It has like 4 or 5 great songs on it but also a couple of their worst. Compared to anything else they put out it's just disappointing.
Panic Stations is surely my least favorite from the band, but that's not to say I dislike it. It just has strong competition. Days Will Run Away is easily one of the best songs they have and getting to see them play it at their final show was such a treat. I'm so thankful that I got to go to that final show, it makes the fact that they're gone so much easier to handle.
I can't imagine them putting together a better setlist for that. I knew to expect something a little different/more special, but I wasn't expecting it to be that awesome. That will probably always be considered the most special show I've ever been to. I feel you on Panic Stations, I think I like it a little more than Go personally, but I feel the same as Go as you do about Panic Stations. Still a fantastic album.
I was expecting something special, but I never thought they'd go til 2am. Definitely up there as one of the most important shows I've been to as well.
I think the good songs on Panic Stations are probably better than the best songs on Go, but I think Go is a more consistent album overall (only comparing the two because they're my least favorite from the band). I need to revisit both of them soon, for some reason MCS records always resonate with me more a year or so after release. EIIKM didn't stick at first, now I love it. Same for MDL and it's one of my favorites. Heck, I even remember way back feeling like CTTM didn't live up to IATM and now I think it's one of my all-time favorite records.
Yeah the lows on Panic Station are definitely lower than those on Go, and I think at least for me that the highs on both probably equal out. Idk sometimes its just too hard to compare these things. Its like asking me if I prefer IATM or CTTM. I bounce back and forth all the time. If someone put a gun to my head I'd probably implode.
Justin's releasing a song tomorrow and going into the studio in March for a ("for lack of a better word") solo album
Fuck yeah. Really hope his solo stuff still has the same emotional resonance lyrically as his MCS stuff.
