How would everyone’s album rankings change if you only validate it based on the top 3 songs vs the overall experience? Call it the “bought a CD in the 90’s” rule when you had no idea if you were gonna get a classic or an absolute turd. Here’s mine: 1. CTTM: Hold Me Down, Time Turned Fragile, LGFUAD 2. EIIKM: Point of Extinction, Can’t Finish What You Started, Last Night T3. TSOWWW: You Know Who The Fuck We Are, Things Like This, Particle Physics T3. MDL: Worker Bee, The Weakends, Her Words Destroyed My Planet 5. IATM: Perfect Teeth, Don’t Call It a Comeback, Capital H 6. Panic Stations: I Can Feel You, Days Will Run Away, Anything At All 7. Go: Everyone Will Die, Boxelder, The Coma Kid
By that rubric, my rankings mostly stay the same, but Panic Stations way overperforms: EIIKM: Even If It Kills Me, Fell in Love without You, Antonia CTTM: Hold Me Down, When You're Around, Time Turned Fragile MDL: Her Words Destroyed My Planet, Skin and Bones, Pulp Fiction PS: I Can Feel You, Days Will Run Away, Gravity TSOWWW: Some Wear a Dark Heart, Your Days Are Numbered, Things Like This Go: Timelines, Bad Idea, Floating Down the River IATM: Indoor Living, Modern Chemistry, My Favorite Accident
Humming a slightly varied tune Opposite angles of the moon Buried in layers of ourselves Leaves room for no one else I believe it's true 'Cause nothing matters when I'm all wrapped up in you One of the best MCS moments ever in a song. The lyrics and the vocals are just perfect.
Go came out in the summer when I started an on-site construction job for a couple of weeks as an internship. I showed up on site and they were so unprepared for me that they just put me in a closet with a bucket of paint and told me to paint the walls. The building had maybe 50% of the drywall up at that point and absolutely no mud yet meaning the painting task was 100% unnecessary and 100% unproductive. It'll forever remind me of that summer, haha.
Circuits and Wires has some great lyrics. The album isn't outstanding for me personally but there are some really great songs on there. I like Timelines a lot as well.
Circuits and Wires and The Worst Is Yet To Come are the only tracks I like off Go. It’ll always be my lowest ranked album from these guys. Give Up/Give in is also cool but that’s a bonus track.
EIIKM: Even If It Kills Me, Broken Heart, Last Night CTTM: Hold Me Down, Time Turned Fragile, Attractive Today IATM: My Favorite Accident, Mary Without Sound, Modern Chemistry Go: Happy Anniversary, The Worst is Yet to Come, Boxelder MDL: Her Words Destroyed My Planet, The Weakends, Pulp Fiction PS: Days Will Run Away, I Can Feel You, Heavy Boots TSOWWW: Things Like This, You Know Who the Fuck We Are, She Is Afraid Pretty much the same for me just PS gets a bump. My feelings on the new songs are still being fully formed though.
I know I love this album a lot because my favorite song keeps changing. Currently it seems to be Things Like This Taking a riiiiiide, wayyy outttt thiiiis timeee
Yeah I think Things Like This is taking the title of my favorite off the album. It’s also becoming one of the MCS tracks, period. It’s so great
i finally got around to this last night. was a very casual motion city fan until i watched their warped livestream set w my partner and then fell head over heels. we listened to the record together and had such a great time with it. downer and melancholia seem to be my early favorites. shoutout to the guys. great stuff.
I love this album but I think my biggest gripe with it is the guest vocals. I wish the features were more prominent. I get wanting to tag featured artists on streaming services but when I see (featuring _______) in a track title I expect more than background vocals or one line to be sung but them lol.
I can definitely hear Patrick in Particle Physics but yeah I couldn’t tell you where the other guests sing during their respective songs.
