I enjoy this and I'm always happy to have more music from these guys but I don't feel that this is better than Go or Panic Stations as a full album experience. Agree with other some comments that the flow is really off and the production is super inconsistent (listening to Your Days Are Numbered and Downer back to back, they sound like they are from entirely different sessions)
I'm honestly impressed Max hasn't dropped off this tour yet. Hoping SA closes for the Philly date so I can leave early
probably coming up on tenth listen or so, and it just keeps working more and more for me. that being said, i keep waiting for the modulation at the end of the title track to lock in for me, but it just won't :/ edit: went ahead and listened to the closer out of order just to check what i meant by that...the part i was viewing as a modulation at the end might still be in the same key actually, and it kinda isn't even 'the end part,' it's like a totally different part. when i view it as two mini-songs together i definitely can get behind it more.
“Where did the time go? I keep wondering why Every mark on the wall, every teary goodbye Tiny pattering feet, now a silent retreat Is it too late to start again?“ These are among the best lyrics he’s ever written.
Does anyone feel any sense of conflict in going to the MCS/SA tour? I struggle to support Max but also love MCS.
My closest show is 2.5 hours away, which is already a deterrent, but MCS is headlining which makes it even less appealing to me.
I'll likely only go to my date if Say Anything closes and I can leave early. No idea how to tell if that will happen or not.
Yeah, somehow as the simple excitement of new MCS fades, I’m actually growing to love this even more.
This band absolutely never misses on openers and closers. Both near the top of the album for me, but there’s so many good songs it’s hard to say much about one without realizing how many others rip.
It hit me yesterday that Things Like This basically sounds like a fusion of Perfect Teeth and Better Open The Door. I think that’s why I like it so much
Corazon does something for them that they've never tapped into before. Probably my most looked-forward to when I put this album on.
