I know it's hard because they are all over the country, but it would be cool if they did a livestream show like a bunch of bands were doing about a year ago (Jimmy Eat World, The Starting Line, The Wonder Years, etc).

They got a whole one show in before ending it.

Sadly this virus is here to stay in some way, shape, or form and cancelling and shutting down every winter isn’t going to be the answer

He was the one who caught it though... pretty hard to do a show when you're sick.

didn’t realize it was the frontman, with that being said people are still going to learn how to cope with this so they can continue on. Maybe cancel the next week of shows but not the whole tour

Ignoring how selfish and insensitive this mindset is, the virus is nowhere near mild enough yet for us to just "carry on" like nothing is happening. Eventually, through further mutations and vaccine developments, we'll get there, but we're still somewhat in the weeds.

Maybe they had a realization that not only were they still putting themselves at unnecessary risk… but they were also putting their fans, crew, and venue employees at unnecessary risk as well.

I still think its an overreaction with all the shutdowns again. Last January the 7 day moving average for deaths in USA was ~2900 while today its less than half that ~1,200 and has remained stable since the Omnicron was identified in late November. January was also the peak, we'll be fine.

It's not, COVID deaths are hardly the only benchmark that matters. Last year, hospitalizations in the US peaked at 128k (7 day avg) on 1/11/21, we're currently at 104k 7 day average and are nowhere near the peak, it's trending in a very bad direction. The more people who get COVID, the more people will end up hospitalized, the more our entire health care infrastructure is overwhelmed. People are dying from things other than COVID because hospital beds are taken up by people with COVID

just a friendly reminder that we're coming up on the 2 year anniversary of this solely because of the "lets just move on with our lives" crowd.

Surely this post will age well. But furthermore, Justin has said how he doesn't want their tour to contribute to more people clogging up hospitals. No one should get sick because they want to hear "Everything is Alright" live right now when they can wait until it's a little safer and our health care system isn't buckling under the pressure of more patients.

My dad is a primary care doc in blood red Iowa. He is exhausted from treating all kinds of patients who have had to put off routine care, but it’s unvaccinated COVID right now that are in the hospital, if they have room. He’s seeing tons of COVID again along all lines, but folks who had their shots by and large aren’t being severely impacted. But there are so many who haven’t gotten any shots, especially in his town, that it overwhelms a staff that’s been exhausted and depleted for two years.

That’s far from the only fallout. My high school coach died of sepsis last month because he couldn’t find a bed within 300 miles after he got an infection during routine surgery. That’s not a COVID death. But it’s one caused by how the disease is raging and consuming every resource and body our medical system has.

Fuck all the moral crusaders who want to “get on with it” and think death is the only measurable that counts. So many do not get to make that choice and will be impacted by those who do - perhaps when they need care the most. Seriously, deeply and sincerely, fuck you forever.

Oh I totally understand that fear of overloading the system, I mean that's where all this started. It should be the only motivation to engage in shutdowns. Looking at the projections, at least in California, reaching capacity limits just don't seem to be a threat.

Yeah, but they're touring the Midwest too, which is getting destroyed by COVID.

Then why not skip the midwest? The rest of the countries occupancy % really isn't that abnormal and hasn't changed much over the last two months since omicron became prevalent.

I'm just pissed about missing Circa again..

calm down man. I basically was simply saying this isn’t going away now and we’re going to have to learn to cope with it like other sickness and continue on. Now even Bidens advisors are telling him to start with a new approach because it’s here to stay

Props to your dad. I've been helping out the primary care docs since they're so flooded with covid patients. Can't imagine the mental strain it puts on you doing this all day.

Well stay pissed then. I don’t know. Most artists are taken this seriously and don’t want to risk the health of themselves and their crew. Sorry they’re not selfish.
