Not sure if you've seen this over on the Now, Now thread but they're supposedly playing SXSW next month, so we're hoping some news comes out of that show or even better, they say something before that.
The string of European tours definitely make it seem closer to Autumn 2017 but I could be wrong. As much as I'd like Sonic Highways season 2 for the TV show I hope that the album is unrelated- Sonic Highways is kinda weak IMO.
Agreed. While it had some good highlights, and the TV series was interesting, the album was very hit and miss.
Very, very interested in how the next PBTT album will sound like. My most anticipated: Captain, We're Sinking (Bobby Barnett vocalist, brother to The Menzinger's Greg Barnett) should be releasing their new album this year. Their previous work is lyrically some of the hardest stuff I've ever heard. Bobby's vocals are intense on a whole other level, and when paired with Leo's vocals - it's just some awesome music. If you didn't listen to "The Future Is Cancelled" when it was released back in 2013, please go check it out so you can get hyped for this year.
I didn't realize Captain were putting out music this year or they would have made my list. Those guys are great and I am super surprised they aren't more popular...
I feel like these lists are usually way longer... things I'm most excited for that weren't mentioned are The Wonder Years, Stickup Kid, Seizures, and that blink-182 deluxe record. There's a ton more (and in different genres than pop punk) but I'm just blanking right now. EDIT: Oh shit, I just saw someone mention that Captian, We're Sinking has a new record supposedly done that I totally forgot about, I am unbelievably stoked for that.
Deliberately wanted to keep it smaller. Plenty of good stuff we missed though you're right. This is mostly just the top 1-2 each person contributing is anticipating.
A new Now, Now record would be great, but I'm not holding my breath at this point. It's worth mentioning the new Pianos Become the Teeth song they've been playing live -- strangely faster than anything they've done in six years but Kyle's still singing cleanly. Could be a strange next move, but the song sounds good. Sigur Ros might have a new one too.
Fair enough! I just used to discover a lot of unknown bands through those lists back on ap.net and was a little bummed to see it mainly contain artists I already knew. Thanks for the explanation though.
