No he meant the second MK movie that tanked and cursed the possibility of another major MK film up until recent years when Netherealm Studios started making solid games again and revived the franchise.
The band that plays in the club in the first movie where Sonya chases Kano was from where I grew up. We would see the singer dude around town years later and he had this like Brit rock inspired band around the time and was really weird if you brought up MK.
Also does anyone remember about a decade back when Kevin Tancheroen (sorry if I butchered his name) tried to petition to do this reboot movie by shooting a pretty damn solid full trailer called Mortal Kombat: Rebirth and had it go viral as a means to entice studios. He had Michael Jai White as Jax and Lateef Crowder as Baraka. Unfortunately it only wound up being greenlit as a YouTube series and it was less than spectacular minus a few good outfits and fights. Edit: Figure I might as well just post the trailer.

Idk why people are expecting smart or like a philosophical take on MK. It’s a game about martial arts being used by sci fi combatants to compete between 9 realities to save their world. It’s supposed to be fun! Enjoy the escapism. This is in no way particularly for anyone here just been seeing a lot of nitpicks on videos and such.
Exactly. If this looked like a Chris Nolan-level serious take on the subject matter there would actually be more reason to worry.
