Mortal Kombat: Annihilation had a higher budget than the first film. Bigger budgets do not fix script issues.
seriously. it’s become a joke/trope that sequels are almost always worse than the first. sequels almost always have a higher budget too. baffling.
It would certainly give us better sets though, which I’ve seen many people complain about for this film
Isn't the Outrealm basically screwed for the actual tournament now? Good was the ringer for hundreds of years.
I still can’t get over how shitty the main character is. “We need an original main character for the movie.” -heard that, what’s his gimmick? “He wears a shirt that’s hard and gold. And he’s a dad?” -...cool?
It is so weird that the reason being given is that he is supposed to be an audience surrogate for us to understand what is going on. This is all new to the human characters; the original film easily made it explainable to the trio of fighters. They didn't have to start the film with Sonya and Jax already on the hunt and Liu Kang and Kung Lao already in training.
Man, this was so disappointing. I enjoyed parts and fights, but the trailers revealed way too much (shocker) and the main dude was lame as fuck. I did enjoy the Scorpion/Sub Zero aspect, and other small things. But damn, the video game stories are still superior.
Honestly surprised with all the negativity. I thought it was a fun movie that kept me engaged the whole time. No complaints.
Feels like it should be a *lil* more difficult to convince this cole guy to drag his family to indiana than it actually is. Talked to this jax guy for 2 minutes lmao
Sonya investigating the occurrences of the tournament was like enough. I don’t see why Cole added anything. I don’t think Scorpion needed a living bloodline to have his redemption story.
In the Mortal Kombat games, do regular people know about the tournament? If the worlds' greatest fighters were disappearing every generation, it must be somewhat common knowledge.
Kinda liked the original leak/script that Cole just turns into Scorpion basically. Probably would’ve been better than the wack ass armor and tonfas he got.
I genuinely had fun watching this and that’s all I really wanted, just a fun movie of people brutally fighting each other and it delivered on that. Besides, how was it any worse than Annihilation or that overrated original that people put on pedestal because childhood memories?
