First movie is not great from a film standpoint but a lot of fun – and a very successful game adaptation. Second one is just trash.
That first seven minutes even sold me on the drama aspect. Can't wait to see this in imax this week. ^_^
I did not watch. I feel like I’ve already seen so much, that I stopped looking up stuff and watching new trailers so I’d forget a little. I’m psyched.
That just remidned me that I definitely watched that youtube miniseries thing that came out like a decade ago or whatever. The subzero/scorpion story for that was pretty well done too
It was kinda the only one done well lol. I like K Tanch, definitely think he was a real fan and had a vision. Just didn’t have the financial backing he deserved to produce something great.
I thought this was okay. It was like a less-endearing version of the "Power Rangers" reboot, except this is way more dependent on your nostalgia for "Mortal Kombat" the game. Its devotion to the lore is almost completely unnecessary. Villains will appear out of nowhere with no rhyme or reason. Fights will just happen for the sake of a character pulling off a move from the game. The performances are all bland. Kano is basically the only one that makes an impression and even he's basically a carbon copy of Karl Urban's character from "The Boys" with some added pop culture references. There's a scene where a character roars in another's face and is told his breath stinks. The ending is abrupt and only exists to tee up the sequel. If the special effects weren't pretty solid, you'd think this was straight out of 1995, which I understand is the appeal. It's fine for some trash cinema, but not worth more than one watch.
Yeah I thought the ending was super abrupt and I think that’ll be pretty common take. I still think it’s a fun watch and the fatalities are all pretty cool.
I'm sure the studio already sees this as a bankable franchise/IP, a sure money earner for them, so are like "Let's sign these actors up for more just to make sure"
Lmao I’m reading the negative reviews and it all just comes across as people who don’t care for the franchise/think it’s only for diehards. Some other funny complaints like “too much techno” and “cheesy.” Like, just shit that makes me think this is gonna be exactly what I hoped for.
