Not directly related to this film but this was a fun read.

 

So comment on Youtube said this will be a prequal for the next film, which will feature the actual tournament? That film would then feature Johnny Cage? Sounds reasonable that this film would set the stage for the tournament itself

 

All the rumors are so mixed up that it’s actually sort of putting me back in a position where I don’t know what to expect anymore. I just want no cringe dialogue (MK universe stuff is ok) and solid fight choreography that feels like MK. If I get those there’s no way I don’t walk away happy the movie exists.

 

There were some pretty comprehensive leaks today on Reddit that I believe have been DMCA’d since. Couple character death screens were floating around. I think there’s still a big post up about who does what/etc.

I’m still stupidly hyped for this.

 

No way this isn’t the greatest film in the history of films.

It’s actually pretty damn good. I got faked out like 5 times thinking the “MORTAL KOMBAT” was coming and then it happened when I finally stopped thinking it was in the song lol.

Still prefer the OG though.

Watched the shitty camrip. My thoughts. Spoilers obviously


I’m not extremely fluent in Russian but I can understand most of it. The dialogue is pretty corny at times. Maybe that will translate better in English.

This almost has a horror aspect due to Sub-Zero just hunting everyone.

The magic aspect or “arcana” is so fucking corny and stupid. You just randomly come into this in some distressing times. Like Jax who already has metal arms, gets suddenly stronger metal arms through magic on a whim. Same with Coles armor.

I just didn’t like that part.

The fights are super cool. But feel very rushed at times. Some of my favorite characters in the game are made into jobbers and just fall over dead.

Kabal is the highlight. As well as Liu Kang. They do a great job keeping characters moves from the games.

Fatalities are super gory. Kung Lao kills someone and it’s a fucking mess lol.


Cole is actually pretty good but it feels very forced that he’s present. Alice 2.0 has been said online and I don’t disagree. I kinda hope he eats shit in the sequel and they focus more on Liu.


The ending is super super super rushed. But it’s the best fight scene in the film.

Raiden is quite worthless.

Kano is pretty funny

Reptile looks dumb as fuck but actually goes by his actual name of Syzoth

Mileenas teeth in a certain scene look gnarly as FUCK

I hope there’s a sequel. 7/10

Hmmm some upsetting takes but I’m still excited.

 

Seems like this is getting 6/7 from review places. Which isn’t that bad.

 

I refuse to read reviews because even if it isn’t amazing, I am ready to fully enjoy MK on the big screen again. I unfortunately (lol) have a friend coming to visit from NY next weekend when it premieres, and I may make her go see it with me. She’s vaccinated too so hopefully she’s excited haha.

 

I'll take reviews for this with a grain of salt, as there will be the camp that wants all action and little story, whereas another camp will want a grounded and developed storyline, with action on top. And I'm guessing we'll get something in between

 

I want long drawn out martial arts mayhem and gore - make it a silent film for all I fucking care
