The charts are just depressing every week now:

Morgan Wallen’s Dangerous: The Double Album continues to rule the Billboard 200 chart for an eighth week, all consecutively, after having bowed atop the tally seven weeks ago (chart dated Jan. 23). Dangerousis now one of only six country albums that have spent at least eight weeks in total at No. 1.

  3. I just went down a rabbit hole checking out this guy (who I barely know anything about). Does anyone know why SNL disinvited him but then allowed him to still be on the show? Sounds like he ignored Covid protocols but I swear I've seen clips of him recently on the show with Jason Bateman.

He doesn't deserve to still be number one, my guess though unfortunately is he'll continue until that Bieber album comes out and Bieber will unseat him.

He definitely was able to take advantage of a slow part of the year where he hasn't really had any challengers for number one, unfortunately. That Foo Fighters record was probably the only other big record that stood a chance, but didn't have a big single behind it to carry it to number one. If the ADTR record was getting better reception, maybe it coulda challenged Wallen, but I think Wallen is there just due to no big records/challengers coming to unseat him.

It sucks to see, but can't imagine he will beat out Bieber saving for some miracle from god.

    Give what you can.

Well Kenny, a few days before his first scheduled performance he was photographed unmasked at a bar somewhere. So, since he didn't adhere to their pre-show quarantine he was removed from the line up and replaced by Jack White. But, since he issued one of those super duper heartfelt internet apology things (and because he probably brought in a lot of viewers SNL doesn't usually get), they allowed him to cut footloose on their stage a few weeks later. SNL is usually pretty cool about letting the complete dipshits they constantly lampoon on their show swing by since it's almost certainly gonna snag the conservative/morbidly curious demographic.

Maybe Kings of Leon will dethrone him this week?

Has Architects not taken US no1 like in Aus or UK? Or was it beaten in this current news

Architects is nowhere near popular enough to be #1 on the Billboard Charts here.

Architects will never be that popular over here.

  15. Nope. Only the “traditional” sales chart.

Must just be massive in Australia, cause the smashed it in there for another no1 considering not their home country like their UK no1

who was the last heavy-leaning act to have a number one record in America that wasn’t a legacy act (Slipknot, Ozzy, etc)?

america is all in on hip hop and with the way the charts are set up now with streaming, it has the inherent advantage to always debut high. drake created the blueprint on how to “game” the streaming system, and other hip hop artists have jumped on board, that combined with the mega popularity of hip hop it creates a monopoly at the top of the charts.

This is correct on Drake. His EP he just released won't count, unless I'm mistaken, since it was under four songs. So if we assume all the songs on the EP will be on his new album, his new album will get a hell of a boost right out the gate from those.

When you look at chart success now I think it needs to be broken down by pre-streaming and post-streaming. There’s too many ways to cheat the system now.

Yup. How it's currently set up allowed Sam Hunt to use a song that was 3 years old ("Body Like a Back Road") for his album last year and all of those streams counted towards first week sales lol

Not true. Hunt was working on that album since 2016. He intentionally delayed the album to drop singles here and there. A lot of EDM producers do the same thing. They'll released 6 singles within two to three years that will wind up on their new album anyway. Also, Sam Hunt was already a big deal in the country scene, so Southside was gonna get a big debut.

He was working on it for 3yrs because he had to take a break due to a DUI, these modern country guys are such good dudes!
