Guess I'm in the minority, but I'm digging this -- think I like it more and more with each listen too.
First listen instantly thought that, and until the last track I thought that this record was going to end the same way as S/T by Third Eye Blind
When I'm home, I don't wanna go You know I hate to leave Cause it's hard enough sleeping on the floor without you next to me That bit gets stuck in my head so much lately.
Also I think Freckle is a good closer, it reminds me of I Hope You're Miserable at the end and I think that's what they were going for. Wish they had put Loome on the album, maybe between Shimmer & Spring to stop the two slow songs being grouped together.
I actually like the two softer songs back to back, it shakes up the predictability of track orders that these types of albums usually tend to go with.
This is super boring and one-note. Reminds me a little bit of Transit's Listen and Forgive if that album were way more dull and unmemorable.
I like that they (supposedly) tried to do something less predictable with the track order, but those two songs in a row just kill the vibe for me. Apart from this, really enjoying the record. Not as much as IKYIM, but that one is unbeatable.
I am a huge fan. Oddly enough, I was in HS in Maine while they were gaining a ton of popularity around here and in a strange way, of all bands, they shaped a lot of my music tastes. Selling out 600 cap venues in Maine is a big deal for a local screamo (at the time) band. As they changed their sound I continued to follow them but there was so much band drama they just didn't survive. The self-titled EP they put out a few years ago was so good and looked like a return to form, but they completely fell off. It's actually kind of sad seeing them continue to play cover shows at random bars in random towns around Maine as STR..
It's not, but I dig it. I wish they had included it in the record, maybe instead of one of the slower songs towards the end (Shimmer?).
