On the song "bukowski," he sings "you make me feel like Jimmy Dean" .. he really means james dean, right? Or does he just really look up to the breakfast sausage guy?
You mean the song Bukowski, which is the first song they ever wrote. And yes, I believe it references James Dean there.
Aw. Crap. That's what I meant. Now I look like a n00b. I listenes to both their albums twice today, you'd think I'd know. Haha. I fixed it. But f'real, jimmy dean breakfast sandwiches are the bee's knees.
I actually like this a lot more than I thought I would based on the singles, the second half really saves the album. Also I don't think the lyrics are anywhere near as bad as they were on the first LP.
Knuckles is one of the catchiest songs I've ever listened to. The rest of the album is pretty generic and uninteresting, but man, I could listen to Knuckles endlessly.
How I feel about all the references in I'll Keep You In Mind: listening to the new album rn, likin it so far.
Also this is really growing on me. It doesn't feel as special as IKYIM, but Pastel is such a great opener, and the only song I'm not keen on is Glow.
i've been feeling sway a lot the last two days. just wish there hadn't been such a large gap from the time they released honey to when the album was released, i've been skipping honey-knuckles-sulk a lil too much
Yeah I agree. I do find myself listening to them still purely because I think all three are great songs, but I've overplayed them already haha.
For real! If Sulk and Spring don't hit you in the gut I don't know what will. Spring floored me when I heard it. But I can also relate having a cousin take his own life.
I am really loving this album. The songs are great, the production is fantastic, and I love the structure of the record. But, there are long dead spaces at the end of every song. Takes me out of the record.
Really enjoying this album. Took a couple spins for it to take hold, but it's slowly worming its way into my EOTY Top 10...maybe even Top 5
Glow is slowly becoming one of my favorite songs of the summer. Can't wait to relax and drink a beer to this album.
Interesting, Glow is my least favourite. Pastel, Sway & Freckle are my current favourites (alongside Honey & Knuckles of course).
Even more interesting, I think Shimmer should have been removed from this track-listing. The only point of the album that pulls me out of the album because of the lyrics (other than the "cig-uh-rayyyyeettss" part in Spring lol). This album has some pacing issues for sure, but still enjoyable.
Shimmer and spring are really good I only listened to one of the singles, but I think the first half is great
I wish I could get into Shimmer, but it just really messes with the pacing for me, especially with Spring right after. Maybe it should have been the closer? Idk, most people say the back half is the strongest, but I think it kind of peaks and valleys over the traditional sequencing. Edit: and I love Spring!
