i love this band, and they've preached many times about having an open and 'safe' show. pretty disheartening
Didn't read the full post to know 100% of what's going on but I just don't get why this happens so much in pop-punk. Like what is it about this scene that we see these stories pop up so often. As a big fan of the band, I'm not impressed they haven't come out and said anything yet. Not impressed in general obviously.
cause 90% of pop punk music is a bunch of white dudes who sing about how they are entitled to the love of another. Misogyny is built into this genre of music down to its very core.
Hopeless records just shared a mooseblood video, so what's going on here.. is everyone just going to ignore this?
I don't think many people know about the incident. Those tweets only had a few hundred retweets/favorites.
It's not just their drummer. There's also a post out about how back in 2015 they nicked a girls phone off her when they were crashing at her place and shared around nude photos they found on it. I would post it but there's so many posts to sift through on twitter mentioning MB now. Anyways fuck this band, no time for this bullshit in this scene.
Yup I'm done. I never liked them a ton to be honest, just would play them when I was in the mood for some generic pop punk/emo now I'm done... I'll listen to pentimento who does what they do a lot better
It's just pathetic to be honest. I'm lucky this doesn't directly affect me; I'm not a fan of the band, I caught them live once and thought they were alright, listened to the recent album when it came out and found it massively lacking in depth. What does annoy me, apart from the disgusting behaviour, is that they are a band on a major label, with a decent-sized fan base, of which a fairly significant proportion are teenage girls, yet they can't even be bothered to address this situation and instead choose to ignore and delete posts from fans who are wanting an explanation. And then they have temerity to say that their shows are "safe places". Idiots.
I'm just holding out hope they release a statement explaining that they took posts down until they could properly explain the situation or something. I want to believe they aren't complete misogynistic assholes. Time will tell.
^ How long has this story been around though? Those tweets are five days old and they were a clarification of something that was already going round. That's a long time to release a statement.
Glenn is a total creep clearly. Wonder what Mariel thinks of this considering the problems she had with guys being dicks in this scene at one point. Apparently a statement IS coming.
Feeling pretty icky that I ever listened to this band, but I'm at least glad I never supported them financially
Glad to see a statement like this. Not entirely sure it covers all aspects (i.e. the allegations of stealing nudes) but is definitely going the right way about it.
I wish they would have made a statement during the onset but it seems like it was a logistical thing. At least they made the right moves.
Wow. I was a fan of this band and their last album but I am completely done with them now. Even with that statement, I just feel gross supporting them again. Especially if there is even a chance more members did sketchy behavior like stealing nudes.
I thought that. Usually it would say "is no longer a member of...". Maybe they've just phrased it poorly.
