What are you even arguing about dude. You agree that this is a credible accusation and that a credible accusation is enough to remove a band from a potentially harmful environment. The only other point people were making is the idea that we can't and shouldn't rely on legal courts to direct our actions in these cases, which you also seem to agree with. You don't make any sense
Well, you can when clicking the name but who does that? But then again, it'll just take up unnecessary space to scroll for crap like, 'Cursed by my ancestry'. So nah, keep that UI as it is JT.
is moose blood really big enough to sue someone for something they know to be untrue? Maybe I don't understand the legal process enough, but if the singer did what was said he did, this reminds me of the alice glass lawsuit; crystal castles is at least big enough where they theoretically could scare someone into recanting because they'll ruin them through legal fees, but I never thought MB had that kind of pull.
I said you can take these allegations seriously without necessarily assuming guilt. To do nothing would just let perpetrators continue their bullshit. More pressure should have been on Moose Blood to do something about it. Waiting a year for a response is ridiculous and presumably maybe just their attempt to blow off steam on the case. I pointed out in my first post that's wrong. The whole thing was less Moose Blood related (beyond them claiming innocence and deserving a fair trial) but issue in general on the statement of, "I automatically choose to believe the victim because statistics show they rarely lie." It's a fucked situation all around but I don't agree with that sentiment. Hope that clarified it better for you. No point really repeating that anymore.
More that I don't really care if getting banned is at the expense of voicing my opinion (which some others are afraid to do on here because of repercussions) and from the fact of bullies that can give but can't take.
So because of the what, 0.001% chance the accuser is lying we should just wait and see what an unfair and unjust system to victims of abuse rules? Nah, dude. Pretty almost every fucking time (can count on one hand the number of times the person accusing actually lied in stories like this) the person being accused did some seriously fucked up shit. I don't get how someone can read all these stories the past few months, with the mountains of evidence against the accused, and still sit there shout "innocent until proven guilty" rhetoric. And even if they're ruled "innocent", 99.99% of times in these cases they aren't. Fuck off with that bullshit.
It's not 00.001% though. I've also stated my own anecdotal evidence of this happening hence why I personally felt strong to voice my opinion that it is not fair to just assume guilt because of a statistic. So you can think what you want and ban away, but it's not right.
May as well go down in style, JW. At first, I was debating to steal your profile pic as mine but the tombstone was more symbolic.
I would like to point out that plenty of people in this thread were posting informatively, based on experience and studies. There is really only so much one can take, however. Please take note that a lot of us, especially women, have these conversations multiple times a week on this forum and the same obtuse people usually derail, turn it into an argument, and then get mad when people retaliate in kind. In short, most of you need to take a damn nap and spend some time on Google. It really isn't that hard to educate yourself, especially when you've been given the blue print already.
Wasn't there someone who was falsely accused of sexual assault and even after he said not to discredit anyone who speaks up about being a victim? Can't remember who that was exactly
It was Connor Oberst. "It’s such a tricky topic for me because I don’t ever want to minimize how much that happens to women all the fucking time,” he says. “They say one in four women will experience some kind of sexual assault in their life which is fucking insane and heartbreaking. So as painful and surreal and fucked up as my situation was, I don’t ever want to use this as an example to justify anything."
Connor Oberst. And that's a perfect example of how things should be handled IF It is a false allegation. The community believed the victim. Then we found out it was a false accusation and the community lifted it's moratorium on supporting his work.
I never saw that situation resolved, somehow - he handled the accusations being proving false pretty well though, and deserves props for it. It's really not that hard to believe survivors, for fuck's sake.
