Stuff that I've listened to this year and enjoy: orchid mantis - flashbulb memory bedwetter - volume 1: flick your tongue against your teeth and describe the present. The xx - I See You Migos - Culture Kodie Shane - Big Trouble Little Jupiter Injury Reserve - Floss Japandroids - Near To The Wild Heart Of Life Cloud Nothings - Life Without Sound Priests - Nothing Feels Natural Kehlani - SweetSexySavage Yung Lean - Frost God Julie Byrne - Not Even Happiness Different Sleep - Forget It
Top 5 for January were: The Drip, Sinai Vessel, Cloud Nothings, Japandroids and that Absent in Body single that's like 20-some minutes long, so I'm going to count it. Biggest Disappointment for me was Gone is Gone. Love most of the member's bands, but this was just eh. And Code Orange who seem to have incredible hype and seemed not that great to me. Perhaps I should go listen to the earlier stuff... First year doing this and cool part is listening to some bands that I've heard of, but not heard. Cloud Nothings is a prime example. Hadn't heard them and now tomorrow I'll be seeing them live and, hopefully, enjoying that. Toughest part is going to be figuring out how to keep listening to those Top 5 while still fitting in all the great stuff that's coming out in February
Only listened to Code Orange and Bedwetter from this year; both are abrasive and not easy listens, however I love them both. Still playing 2016 catch-up, and the new Mitski has a grip on my attention. Gonna try to listen to the new Kodie Shane soon
This thread is a great idea. I'll post my favorites from the month sometime tomorrow (still hoping to get to a couple new ones).
We live in a world of early leaks/releases!! This is not meant to be a strictly ruled thread, promise
So far this year I've listened to Brian Eno - Reflection The xx - I See You Kehlani - SweetSexySavage Japandroids - Near to the Wild Heart of Life Natalie Hemby - Puxico You Me At Six - Night People Aquilo - Silhouettes Deaf Havana - All These Countless Nights SOHN - Rennen Migos - Culture Cherry Glazerr - Apocalipstick I like/love all of them, so it's been a good month
Good idea! My favorite releases this month were definitely Susto - & I'm Feeling Fine (seriously everyone check out this record) and the Cayetana/Camp Cope split. I also quite liked the Dryjacket record and the Allison Crutchfield record. The You Me At Six record was alright, I probably need to revisit it, but I liked it. Overall a pretty good month, but I doubt anything will make my EOTY list.
I never listened to the xx before, and I'm a lil surprised how much I like their new album. Japandroids is probably the biggest disappointment of the year for me so far, and I still absolutely love it. Oso oso is my biggest, uh, appointment of the year because it's miiiiiiiles away from their debut, super good. Got code orange sitting in my iTunes but I still haven't listened yet
Oliver Houston is without a doubt my most listened too album. Other than that I basically have just been listening to young thug discog only. CARE is also dope.
Here's what I've enjoyed from 2017 so far. Plenty of releases to catch up on still though. New Chasing Safety, Palisades, AmaLee, Starset, AFI, As It Is, As Lions, Ulrich Schnauss & Jonas Munk, Intriguant, Chris Thile & Brad Mehldau, Dryjacket, Lights & Motion, You Me At Six.
Cloud Nothings The xx Code Orange Ryan Adams All these albums have summed up my January. Plus I got to see Code Orange play last month and I get to see Cloud Nothings play tomorrow.
Listened to Joshua Radin, John Mayer and Japandroids. Enjoyed the first two, wasn't into Japandroids. Not listening to much music lately.
I keep seeing this everywhere, I feel like maybe i get them/her?/him? confused with other caps lock artists
I hadn't heard of them (trio of girls) until they showed up on my weekly Apple Music playlist, but now I've seen references here and there. Regardless, incredible début album, well worth a listen.
