It kinda drug a little in the middle imo but overall this was a blast. Some really fun gory fight sequences.

 

Seeing it Tuesday with my dad. Can’t fucking wait. Dev rules.

Seeing this at 645 and pumped. Trailer definitely sold it and the reviews are good so hopefully it lives up to the hype I'm putting on it.

 

This really rocked. Agree that the middle is slow but that last 40 minutes or whatever is nuts. Saw a few tweets that said something had changed in the trailer to be less politically provocative in India but I don’t know, seemed pretty political to me

 

I really enjoyed this. not perfect by any means, but a really good debut for Dev.

 

Loved it and can't wait to watch it again with subtitles at home.

Overall enjoyed this, really well choreographed action sequences.

 

I thought this was absolutely amazing. Everything I was hoping it would be. I hope Dev gets to make many more films.

Saw this last night. Loved a lot of it, but not 100% sure I really loved it as a whole? Idk. When it hit, though, it hit hard. Dev Patel is very cool imo.

 

Sean Fennessey on The Big Picture said he thought a lot was probably cut out of this movie, the only thing I felt didn't get much payoff was Alphonso not really being involved in the final act

 

I don't think he was really needed or would have fit in the final act tbh.

I can never remember how to spoiler tag but training montage may have been my favorite part of this tbh

 

I loved that, cool way to make a training sequence feel fresh and unique.

 

This was pretty good. Dev rules. Loved most of his direction just less shaky cam at times please. Very excited for what he does next.

 

Yo this ruled! Agree with most of the thread about some of the minor issues but overall what a blast. Really wanted the dog to come back and help Dev out in a later fight like RE4

 

damn this movie was fucking insane lmao. I went in thinking this was a boxing movie and uhh

 

I tried going into this as blind as possible, had thought Jordan Peele directed it, did not know it was Patel’s directorial debut? Very impressive for his first outing.

I’ve seen a lot of people talk about how the middle section dragged a bit, I thought it was a great breather from nonstop action and added important context. Really enjoyed this!

 

Dug this mostly. He definitely had “first-time director syndrome” of trying to do everything at once. Like, man, I just want to see the fight. The cameraman doesn’t need to be doing somersaults while the POV switches to first person. Also, didn’t need to keep the reason he’s going after the chief of police a secret to be revealed halfway through. Just show it at the start.

But overall - very enjoyable. The community coming together ruled.

 

had a good time seeing this today. action sequences rocked, but thought the pacing and plot were a bit of a mess. just a lot going on and he loves them ambiguous quieter scenes that I just don't love lmao

 

This was pretty great! Saw it today. Felt like a unique take on a story we’ve seen before. Easy to root for Dev, too!
